Looking back on my longer/longest relationships (including family) the synastry has been interesting and heavy handed with the outer planets Saturn, Pluto, 8th house, North-Node and Uranus to personal planets which have dominated thse relationships yet no personal contacts except my father our moons our conjunct and I find it very invasive and strange, no way could I imagine looking for this in a relationship.
Interestingly my scorpy who has been in my life longest other than sextile suns we don't have sun-moon or mars-venus or moon venus or the basics.. NOOO, We have Venus-Uranus, Venus-Pluto, Plenty of Neptune, Saturn and North-node contacts nothing basic, yet we are completely SOUL-MATED and have been together for long time, will be together for a long time and you would know it if you where around us.
Our composite sucks though and does not at all capture our relationship its all air, and air houses, 6th house etc. not at all reflective of what we have.

My understanding of astrology is not vast... put I find myself looking at the nodes and outer planets when first meeting someone I am struck by these days and if I don't see contacts I know it may be fleeting...
If I see south node conjunctions, I run (no I don't but I know one of us will be lol).
What gives...
Is pluto the new moon? Uranus the new mars? Saturn the new mercury lol.

I experienced South Node conjunctions in synastry. Someone in particular had Jupiter EXACTLY on my South Node. No, it didn't keep us together and it didn't feel comfortable at all, because it was like the person was "pulling me back" towards things and ways of Life that belonged to my past, I felt that strongly all the time. : )
Anyway "Composite" doesn't show how two individuals react to each other, it maps the energy field the two people generate.

yes, I resonate with what your south node experiences are EXACTLY. The only exception to that on my end is venus-south node contacts Ive experienced these relationships usually never pan out and leave an uncomfortable feeling of hunger other than that I couldn't get away from my south node fast enough. I really feel the north-node to be connections to my past, both my man and my brother have these with and strongly and these relationships are my most familiar and soul-matey.

Yes, the hunger, too. I also find North Node connections to be stronger, I learn a lot from people with things on my South Node but it's all about coming back to things I need to revise, and then the purpose of the meeting is fulfilled. North Node people usually come to stay.
Yes, I totally agree here. I haven't experienced N-node as hungry as S-node contacts (especially venus-south node) but more with durability and a feeling of moving ahead like you said. My brother has his sun conjunct my north-node and I feel as if I need to help him, like my well-being depends on his getting ahead in life, its odd. My honey has his Saturn conjunct my NN and it feels very karmic, we've known each other before. I wonder how north-node to moon or venus feels, have you or anyone here experienced this.
