Out of Sign Aspects

I have been thinking about out of sign aspects - natal, synastry and composites. I was thinking of starting a thread, but decided to do a quick search. Lo and behold, a post appeared! Smile This forum and the blog are a treasure trove for those wanting to learn.

In my experience, I don't seem to relate to them natally, but for some reason massively impacted in Synastry despite the other person owning the qualities of the planet of their sign? No conclusion about composites.

For example, I reject my natal moon square pluto diagnosis. Come on! My pluto in Scorpio works so well with my Capricorn moon to count an applying 6'40" square!

On the other hand, husband's Venus is counted as being close enough to my DC, (typical marriage indicator), despite being in another sign that is nothing like the nature of my DC, natal Venus or Mars. Despite having married him quite willingly 😀 he is nothing like the type of partner I should/would choose for myself, way too airy for my depth seeking water/earth placements.

I wonder if more people can share their experience of out of sign aspects?

I have an out of sign Venus square Mars in synastry with 2 degree orb.. in friendly signs.

My experience so far is that it softens the tension. Issues associated with Mars/Venus hard aspects still arise but we're able to deal with them in a nicer way and resolve it easier. On the other hand, sometimes these issues really sneak up on you, like you expect harmony but still encounter difficulties and it can catch you off guard.

It has a muddying of the waters effect.

So, I personally consider out of sign aspects but give them a tighter orb.

Thanks! Thats a good explanation. I wonder if the signs make a difference? How the hell are Aquarius and Pisces supposed to conjunct? Or why should Scorpio and Capricorn treat each other with the sharpness of a square?

Well here's one way of looking at this..

I think planets are the ones who carry energy, not the signs. Signs color the expression, but the planet holds the energy.

So when planets aspect each other, there's going to be an energetic exchange of those planets, regardless of their signs.

In harmonious signs it will add some ease despite a hard aspect, and disharmonious signs will add an element of unease, despite a harmonious aspect.

Aspects for out of sign planets are called dissociate aspects. Out of sign aspects are made up of early and late degrees of differing Zodiac signs. Aspects are measured by degrees of planetary positioning on a 360° circle. Planet degrees to other planet degrees are what are measured and used to obtain planetary aspects. The Astrological Zodiac SIGN which shows the QUALITY of a planet through the Sign ELEMENT and MODE is a separate thing and is what the ENERGY of the planet is focused through. The energy of each planet in a NATAL chart denotes a particular part of the human psyche. It does not matter if the aspect is made up of planets that have differing sign qualities, it is the measurement of same with a sensible orb that denotes if they are in contact.

In a COMPARISON CHART for aspects between two separate charts, orbs tight to exact, and each chart placed onto one another in turn to see how they fit into each other's houses, psyches, etc.

A COMPOSITE chart which requires exact birth times, as should all charts, is made up of midpoints which are not planets, and a practice many consider moot.
