Do you think the strike will take place. I was not concerned, until I read a note from a (supposed) port worker who said it was so slow, the could layoff half the workers and be fine.
Implication was, this is being done to get rid of workers.
But other say, they bring it to the wire, then thirty day extension and then deal?
What do you think?
I’m concerned but you also wonder if maybe the president will come in last minute. My understanding was that if the were to intercede, it would have had to have happened earlier but then I believe there was another president (perhaps one of the Bush’s) who came in at the last hour to prevent it.
It could be a way to prune workers. It’s definitely concerning. My husband said they already set up alternate transportation for things they need for projects.
I really don’t pay much attention to the news on tv. Have they been talking about it? I don’t believe I’ve seen much in the paper, either. I’m just wondering what the media tone is on this, the chatter or lack of. The things I’ve read are not mainstream. I’m always interested in what is being fed to the public vs what’s not.
It’s quicker to stop than it is to restart everything. I remember the backups during covid.
Actually a 30-day extension sounds like it might be advantageous, then proceed, depending on election? We are just shy of 30 days.
Do you think this strike will be resolved, quickly, or will the standoff be protracted?
