Are you more like your mother or your father?

I have a lot in common with both, but embrace the parts from my dad more easily than those from my mom.

My dad and I share the same rising sign about 5 degrees apart, and we both have fixed suns and mutable moons. My north node, Mercury, Mars, and Saturn make conjunctions with his midheaven, moon, Venus, and Jupiter respectively. We are simpatico. I admire him greatly, try to spend as much time with him as possible, and hope to become more and more like him as I age.

My mom is a Cancer sun, conjunct Mars and Uranus, square 12H moon in Aries.  She can be vicious, so I'm lucky she loves me - my sun is conj her Venus. She is in constant physical pain and refuses to address anything with possibly emotional origins. The parts I get from my mom are challenging, but I think they're even more difficult for her. My Jupiter conjuncts her moon, so she offloads a lot of her emotional pain on me. I guess I am equipped to absorb it and buoy her, so I do.

I do all "Dad" things in a "Mom" way.

My mom and granny thought I was going to have black hair and eyes like her. I'm much lighter like my dad. I still have her olive undertone though, all the colors that look good on her also look good on me.

She has a Scorpio rising, but she has a 9H Moon and a ton of Aries. So she always wants to watch something funny, always has a wise crack to make, always giggling and charming people. I'm more straight-faced like my dad, but always trying to keep the mood aloft in some way like her.

I despised him when I was a kid. I felt like my mom and my brother were my family and he was something attached to my family that I had to withstand. He was a rageaholic and my first and worst abuser. He kept my brother and I fully oppressed (Sun-Pluto variants) and would spare no insult or shout if we weren't acting in line. I mean really, called me a spoiled little queen bitch and my brother r*****ed, when we were single digit ages. He would wolf his food down as fast as he could and then choke, and I'd cheer for him to finally die.

My chart bears a shocking similarity to his. Many of the house positions and aspects are exactly the same, just everything shifted forward one square. He and I are almost completely square each other. There's also shadows of his sign placements in my house placements. Maybe someday I'll post up the charts because this is insane. Now I'm on the same career path at about the same time he was. I can't deny how much of him is actually me, good and bad. I feel strongly compelled to transcend all that hate and fear and not spread the generational poison around. To hopefully "right" something that went "wrong" in this world.

Neither? haha.

Everyone always says my mom but I think I'm far more evenly-keeled (Taurus) like my dad than her. I may be biased toward her Scorpio moon sq Pluto. Emotional rollercoaster is an understatement. Growing up with that as a child was awful. It's almost like a mentally ill mother.

and I have Pluto Scorpio ASC!

But, then my dad is the opposite, emotionally numb. So I guess I'm somewhere in the middle. But, also just so different from both of them.

@belladonna interesting. I was mostly talking about appearance,  but reading this, I realized it's more than that.

I struggled most of my life to have a sense of belonging in a sense I should be like my mom or dad, or at least even, but my mom would say I'm neither, that I am a person on my own, without a certain likeness to them. By the end of her life, she said I was more and more like her parents, and she was completely terrified by that fact. 😀 I'm so okay with that fact, they were my second parents. Smile But from my point of view, I think I'm similar to my mom in a few things, more than to my dad.
