He also resents his mom, who had numerous husbands and lovers

This reminded me of someone I knew years ago.   His mother was married something like five or six times.  He admitted he had a lot of anger towards his mother.  We weren't terribly close but I recently heard from a mutual friend that he never married (he's in his fifties) though he had numerous short term relationships and plenty of women interested.  On paper he is quite a catch.  Definitely not gay.

How would this tie in with Mom having multiple boyfriends and husbands?  Would a son always feel second best?  Would he fear a woman would always replace him with another man?

How funny...my ex is 57. Extremely good-looking, doesn't look his age at all...skilled, educated, charming (Libra rising, sun in the third)...has had plenty of women. Proposed to me then took it back. His mother set the tone, I suppose.. a real femme fatale, outlived all her husbands. Lots of dark stuff there. She's a fascinating woman. Still quite the enchantress and storyteller in her 80s. Sagittarius.  I am too honest. I share too much. I showed him all my cards and he balked. He was certain I would tire of him like I tired of my two ex-husbands. He never fully grasped how much I adored him.

that sounds like my last ex, he has a mother like that, free-spirited, and married several times, and her last was with the young man who is over 30 years younger than her. Defintely hippy and free spirit. Nurturing and loving, especially with her men, and she loves her son, but is distant. I'm betting she has aquarius venus (sorry, Misti, no offense, i just understand that aquarius venus is distant in love but it's not a bad thing, just different. As my mother in law has this too) Or maybe that she has aquarius mars too? Her sun is in Pisces.

My ex; He was commitment-phobic, and distant himself. But with that Aries venus/sag mars combo, he liked independence a whole lot and would encourage that. But honestly, he has NO anger toward his mother at all. He accepts her as she is. I liked that about him, because unlike my other ex, who couldn't just accept that his mother didnt love him, (she abused him terribly and he never could get out of that hatred of women) because mothers don't do that to their sons - physically abuse and tell them they should never be born ect. It traumatizes deeply. So maybe it just depends on the individual you know? Because my ex never blamed his mother and has great tolerance for his mother's choices in life, whether she married 5 times or with someone 30 years younger. He just didnt want to marry /be traditional or have children so maybe that kind of affected him in a different way you know??

sounds like he wants a relationship with a puzzle. that's kind of unreal.

i guess with my husband, there are things i dont know about him (he has 12 house) and i have 12 house, and its weird, but it's like we just understand eachother. I read somewhere that 12 house is a house of not seeing yourself clearly; i am starting to understand it as many times things dont "trigger", like the memories are soooo deep, that you forget, and it's not forgetting on purpose, it's as if it's hidden so deep because the memories are painful, or just not important? I guess that's why we work so well together. It's not because we keep a mystery, it's because of who we are, accepting eachother through love and understanding. Even if that understanding is not clear. And honestly, if it's to the grave, that's fine too. As long as we're together to the end kind of thing. I think that's what astrology is helping me understand too. ETA: astrologers are not kidding about that 12 house.

See, the thing when you said you tired of your ex's, that's really incredibly scary to someone who wants security. Same with your ex thinking the same thing.

Eta2: i was doing some research and there's Aquarius sun/Moon Virgo Aquarius venus combo Sharon Tate, similar energies to you, and then there's Eva Braun, who is also Virgo moon/Aqua sun combo, one married a Taurus/Cap moon and the other Leo Sun Roman Polanski. Eva Braun in my opinion was more femme fatale, and Sharon tate looked like she could be femme fatale but was really not according to her profile/biography as Polanski had affairs and she was supposed to look the other way. But she is the type that would stick with him to the end.

Sharon Tate and Eva Braun...interesting. And they had horrible deaths. I've always had this irrational fear that a husband or boyfriend would murder me. One night with the ex-boyfriend (Cap-Taurus) I had a nightmare that he was about to stab me. The nightmare was so real. We were in our real bed. Extremely vivid. I cried out in my sleep and he consoled me. I had nightmares a lot, actually. He would reach for my hand and have me repeat the Lord's Prayer after him, line after line. He's Catholic. I was brought up Baptist. I don't know what the hell I am now but I'm meditating and going to a Buddhist center on an infrequent basis. I don't have a frame of reference for the twelfth house as mine is empty. It's ruled by Leo. The only Leo flavor I have to my chart is Mars and Jupiter in the fifth. Lots of aspects to those planets, though.

I was so interested in their biography when i got into astrology. :D I thought wow, at least astrology also links to historical biographies and relationship/dynamics. Eva Braun and Hitler were both dominant earth/air, and some astrologers think, even some speculations that Hitler had affairs on the side, but i dont think so at all. He may have been a monster, but going deep, he was very loyal. He was even quoted that Ms. Braun is the only woman for me.

She had a horrible death yes, but it as HER choice. At the end, Hitler let her go, and told her to go live her life, (if he had any love for anyone, it was her) and she said, no way, she would die with him, but of course, finally she wanted marriage. So they married and committed suicide. It was even said in the story that Joseph Goebbel's wife was introduced by Hitler because Magna Quandt, wanted Hilter and was interested in him. Hitler directed her to Goebel (both are Scorpio suns). But Joseph Goebbel was not faithful, monogamous (had affairs) and was in love with a Virgo woman. Hitler sent her secretly away because Joseph wanted to marry her. Alot of interesting stories in that arena. go read up on it :D

As for Sharon Tate, that was extremely tragic. i Always thought that if she had lived, that Polanski's shadow side would not be "triggered".  Like her lifeforce was the one that continued to keep him from going insane. (they say that there is a fine line between madness and genius or something).

That's extremely weird, Misti. Maybe he believed the devil would go into your dreams. eek Or maybe that's just a projection of your own fears.
