Wait a tick. If you were “setting him up” and later “got him to speaking back” as you say, then you’re doing your own share of manipulation. From what you say, it sounds like you’re trying to control him and that never ends well, especially on a Scorp. Am I the only one who sees this? If you shafted him then yes, he will get you back in a cruel and appropriate way. You make your own bed. Forget about the magic sex and be the bigger person. Just move on.

I don't think Scorpios usually do hurtful things intentionally. I mostly just try to keep to myself and not get in anybody's way but will often find myself saying or doing hurtful things as a defense in response to some kind of threat.
I've often referred to it as "bringing guns to a knife fight."
It's kind of like, if a person makes a snide comment or remark or tries to make me the brunt of the joke, my Scorpio "sting" comes out to say "I'm going to make sure you don't ever do that again." But because it's usually an amplifcation of the energy that's being projected at me, people are usually shocked by it - typically to the point where they've forgotten that they were the ones feeding me the energy to do so.
There's a compounding effect, where anyone who has been "stung" by a Scorpio feels like they've been disrespected in some way and then seek to "get back" at them or "punish" them in some way.
So we spend most of our lives just trying to get through the day without stinging people, but it's almost impossible because there's pretty much always a struggle for power in just about every single relationship - which normally is fought for with condescending words or manipulation.
Your "getting back" at him comes from believing that "punishment" somehow changes or corrects behaviour, or at the very least makes you feel like universal balance has somehow been restored.
In dealings with Scorpio energy, one must be extremely forgiving, cautious and self-aware, lest ye be stung.
