Descendant Ruler

I want to hopefully start a discussion about the descendant and it’s ruler, plus planets in the 7th house.

Does your descendant ruler and/or planets in your 7th house describe your ideal partner’s personality? (taking into consideration house placement and aspects)

Have you had the ruler of your descendant in your partner’s chart aspect your personal planets? For instance, if your descendant ruler is Mercury, are you attracted to people whose own Mercury aspects your personal planets?

What about exchanges where your descendant ruler aspects their descendant ruler, or the ruler of your descendant in their chart, aspects the ruler of their descendant in your chart? For example, say my descendant ruler is Mercury, and my partner’s descendant ruler is Uranus, and my Uranus aspects my partners Mercury....

Kind of complicated, but I’d like to explore this with some depth.

Can you check the synastry of your best relationship for aspects to the 7th ruler? Not so good relationships too? Thanks!

Taurus is on my DSC so Venus is the ruler.

I have no planets in the 7th house but my ideal partner would also be my friend. I prefer relationships that start out as friendships. Venus is in Aquarius. Ideally I prefer partners who are honest, intelligent, and funny, which are actually qualities of Sagittarius, my Mars sign. I'm not attracted to Taurean-like people at all or people who have a strong Venus on their chart.

I don't have a partner but I'll use the person I'm interested in. Actually, yes. As the ruler of my DSC is Venus, Venus in his chart is tightly conjunct my Sun.

What about exchanges where your descendant ruler aspects their descendant ruler or the ruler of your descendant in their chart aspects the ruler of their descendant in your chart?

Nope. Those are untouched. However, his DSC ruler is Mercury and I have a strong 3rd house, plus Mercury rules my 8th and 11th houses. I think that appeals to him in terms of attraction.

Can you check the synastry of your best relationship for aspects to the 7th ruler? Not so good relationships too?

I don't know birth times so that's difficult for me to do.

Reposting this and changing my answer a bit because I got my friend's correct birth time from him. He found his birth certificate with the correct time and told me it since I happen to be at his house when he found it. He knows I'm into astrology even though he doesn't believe in it. Lol.

Double whammy here. My DSC ruler squares his DSC ruler. And the ruler of my DSC in his chart is tightly conjunct the ruler of his DSC ruler in my chart. He has Uranus ruling his DSC while Venus rules mine.

@purplestargirl there you go, you basically have a soulmate on your hands. read what I wrote about the anima/Animus and how we almost *feel* vicariously through these connections. It’s all about soul growth!! Now I need to go to bed, up late trying to put some energy into this forum, ?

PS. Also explains why you are kind of obsessed. This is pretty normal with a connection like this , but I do advise to be careful with obsession ? it’s good to have other interests... not saying you don’t but...

Is it still a soulmate connection if we're just friends?

I just realized that my two serious relationships have been with people who have Mercury as the ruler of the descendent! Before, I knew these people were being attracted by/to my Mercury (rather than Venus), but there was a total blind spot about why lol.

The ruler of my descendent is Mars. In one case, there was a trine by sign between my Mars and his Mercury (which was Mars ruled), and his Mars aspected the planet whose sign ruler is in my seventh house. In this case, my Mercury and Jupiter were in the same sign as his Moon/Venus. His Sun and Mercury were in the same sign as my descendent/Moon.

The other relationship, there was not an exchange between my Mars and his Mercury, or my Mercury and his Mars. My Mars opposed his moon by sign, my Mercury trined his Moon by sign. His Mercury aspected many of my personal and outer planets, except for my Mercury, which sucked. This relationship felt more platonic than the other, less romantic/sexual (I didn’t realize that at time).

So this is interesting. My Desc in Virgo, ruled by Mercury. My longest relationships:

  • Her Mercury conjunct my Mars, sextile my Sun
  • Her Mercury conjunct my Sun, her Venus conjunct my Mercury
  • Her Mercury opposite my Moon/Pluto
  • Her Mercury conjunct my North Node
  • Her Mercury opposite my Moon/Pluto
  • Her Mercury conjunct my Asc, trine my Venus/Saturn, square my Mercury

It makes sense doesn’t it? The descendant is the other half of us we all look for in relationships. Our anima/animus. When our descendant ruler is strong in another persons chart and aspects our personal planets, it can make us feel complete. The energy of the descendant ruler (or planet in H7) which is usually projected, is expressed through another and given to us to be vicariously lived through the other person. I think this is what soulmates and twin flames are

I do wonder about descendant rulers that are afflicted. Say, if someone’s descendant ruler is square Saturn in their chart, would they be afraid of the anima/animus? Would they feel inferior in some way? I do feel like the squares take time and maturity to fully get a handle on.

Personally, my descendant ruler is Uranus in Sag H4, it conjuncts Jupiter in Sag squares my Mercury in H7. My Uranus is retrograde. I screwed up all my chances, screwed everything up like a big fat idiot. I do think I learned from my mistakes, but I think I pissed off God, my higher self, the angels etc. The whole universe is like what the fuck are you doing? I really have no idea. I don’t know why it has to be so painful. I can’t imagine I asked for this before I came here.

My descendant is conjunct my SN and Uranus, all in Cancer. My Moon is Virgo in 8th. When young, I wasn't seeking a nurturing type, I was seeking someone to nurture.  I ended up marrying a Gemini Sun with Virgo Moon and Scorpio Ascendant. ?

I feel that way about every time I've pissed off my higher self.  Why would Anyone ever ask for this (Any incarnation) unless it was the only option to avoid something worse?  But if so, as the culmination of one or many incarnations, what on earth did we do in the first incarnation to bring us to this point?

@la_sirena Even if we screw up, I think it gets better. After cheating multiple times on my ex, which lead to the breakup, my current partner's late father got bedridden and my partner was diagnosed with MS. At this point I thought I had brought bad karma to my current partner, as he was ultimately the one that I fell in love with and finally inspired me to tie the loose ends with a relationship that was harmful even for my abusive ex himself. However, ironically, these situations made the relationship with my current partner even better. The ruler of my Descendant, the Moon, is in 9th house in Scorpio conj Pluto and MC, sextiles Sat and Neptune in Capricorn and squares my Venus and Mars in Leo, both of the latter being in the 7th, and trines my 6th house Mercury in Cancer.

The person I'm interested in has a Virgo DSC, which is Mercury-ruled. I wonder if my strong 3rd house, which is ruled by an Earth sign attracts him.

Also he has very little Earth while I have a lot and I have very little Fire while he has a lot. His Pluto is in the 7th house and I am Scorpio Rising. Also his Pluto and Mars aspect my DSC ruler (Pluto trine Venus and Mars sextile Venus).

The best connections I've had so far have included Sun and Venus, usually their Venus aspecting my Sun. I love those connections.
