How long do the planets remain in one sign during progressions? I saw that the Moon remains in a sign for around two years.

The progressed Moon signs following the birth sign will be in each sign for appx 2.5 years , more or less, depends on the Moon speeds in the months after birth. Secondary progressions are all based on the speeds of the planets after birth. The planets that always change signs through secondary progression are the Moon, Sun, Mercury. Venus and Mars are slower to progress depending on their degree. Slower moving Jupiter and Saturn and the outer planets can change signs by progression if they are near the end of a sign by degree at birth and continue direct, or at the beginning of a sign at birth and retrograde back into the previous sign. It's all about the speeds.
