The only people I know of who met on a blind date were my parents.  My mom said she had a date with a man she'd gone out with a couple of times, but he was taken ill and sent a friend (my dad) in his place.  Odd, considering my dad lived 40 miles away!

Back then I never thought to ask all the details I'd like to know now, like where did they go, how had she met the first man, what became of him, etc.  This was 1951.
