bump
My late husband has a cousin who has openly admitted to using alcohol (during the day) to help her cope with her crappy existence. She's also using it to help with chronic belly pain.
She's looking for work and seeing a doctor about the belly pain, so not sure how much longer she can drink like this.
Interestingly, the no/low alcohol space is expected to grow 30%+ in 2021 per an industry study across 10 countries. Drivers include health consciousness and weight loss goals, especially from millennials. I was researching this for work recently, so thanks for bumping this topic. It surprised me a bit at first, but the more I read into the idea of scaling back while still enjoying a cocktail, the more the runner in me bought into the idea.
Seven years later, I think people drink less but they are near hopelessly addicted to the internet. Not sure there is a gain here.
I truly wish more than anything that I could agree that people are drinking less. I’ve seen too many people take the worst turns with alcohol during this transit. The lives of some mutables I know have been completely upended by alcohol during this transit. Losses of nearly anything and everything you can think of.
The battle is horrible to witness, and while there have been periods of small gains on this front in the lives of the people I’m thinking of, its really one of the worst things you can watch someone go through.
After seeing it, there’s no comparison to this level of drug and alcohol addiction. It’s lethal, poisons the environment, and is so easy to get. Just fucking heartbreaking.
I think zoomers are not heavy drinkers that I've seen. Caffiene!
