A friend of mine confided she's suffering memory problems. She's going for tests. It's scary because her father developed and died of Alzheimer's.
What markers in a chart might indicate brain disease?
Maybe Mercury-Jupiter in hard aspect ... Saturn challenged could worsen.
What an interesting question. My grandmother, and her mother, had dementia. I’ll have to think about this...
Wow. Well, I still don’t know the answer and I don’t have my grandmother’s time of birth but she has moon Pluto (I have that), Saturn in Pisces (my mother and I have this), her Venus was conjunct my AC.
As far as markers? I see she had Capricorn Uranus sesquiquadrate Leo Mercury. Mercury was sextile moon Pluto. That’s all I can see from Mercury aspects.
I don't have the details on this yet. We're going to go to lunch and she's going to fill me in. She's a nurse. It's really upsetting. She's got a great husband but I can't imagine how he will cope without her. They've been together for decades and love each other to the bone.
Unfortunately, I have already seen this hit my inner circle but not from this angle. With baby boomers aging, most everyone will be touched by this eventually. Her dad's history is not encouraging. 🙁
I have memory problems too, and emotional problems – both of which I suspect are related to my head injury. Early onset dementia is huge fear of mine. My grandfather had Alzheimer's and I already see signs of it in my dad, so that compounds the fear.
Aries/Mars/1st house rules the head, including the brain. Pluto rules disease… but Neptune, Saturn, Jupiter, or Uranus could all be at play. Mercury rules the mind of course, which is always so elusive. It can be frustrating when we look to the medical world for answers - especially for matters related to the brain, because doctors often cannot provide answers. Humans have a lot of pieces of information about how we think the brain works, but nobody has anywhere near a complete picture of how the brain actually works. Astrology tells us that the mind is strongly connected to language (Gemini) and habits (Virgo), and I find that helpful. It seems that all that a brain injured/diseased/disordered patient can do is give the doctors clues and raw data, and hope for the best. Bonus if you can get paired with a doctor who is "interested" in your particular condition.
My therapist and regular doctor both suggested that I go see a neurologist to check for any physical problems, so that is what I'm going to do in a couple of weeks. I haven't seen one in 14 years, since one month after my head injury. At that time, they confirmed that I wasn't "brain damaged" and that I do not have epilepsy, so they sent me on my way. I've just floated through life since then, and only now looking back do I see a pattern of limitations and symptoms that could be connected to TBI, or not.
Right now I'm in that weird place in between hoping they find something wrong and hoping they don't. I think it's more than likely that tests will be inconclusive, but it would be a huge relief if they actually find something, and I could let down my guard of academic and professional prowess, and just relegate myself to the demands of a "high functioning vegetable" LOL. Sorry if that sounds sad. I'm just so tired of pushing myself over the edge.
