Mmmm...I think it depends on your chart I would think. My niece is an Aries with a North Node in Scorpio. She doesnt have a hard life beyond what she made for herself.

But she is resilient and open. And spiritually strong. And truthful. 

Then again, I feel all nodes are difficult for anyone. They are meant to be. The North node is about growth which involves taking that step out of your comfort zone so your soul can expand.

I like to think all of the node placements would have difficulties relevant to an individual's life.  

I have this placement on my Ascendant in Scorpio and notice more difficult times have occurred in my life during the nodal returns. I've had three nodal returns and each time I have had to make tough decisions related to my autonomy and my responsibilities.  The natal house of the nodes is quite revealing, I think.

My generation of Scorpio North Node people also have Neptune in Scorpio so their experiences would be different than those people born with Pluto and the North Node in Scorpio.

Like Virgolight, I also have Neptune in Scorpio, and my Nodes are conjunct my Asendant/Descendant in Scorpio/Taurus. So I'm the opposite of you OP. I think having Scorpio S. Node is difficult for me as well. Funky chart in general, w/ dominant planets 1.Pluto 2.Chiron 3.Jupiter. It's just the lessons we're meant to learn, I suppose.

One manifestation of NN in Scorpio I can see is that someone has to get over their stubbornness (SN in Taurus). Learn to evolve and change, not necessarily in one day, but yeah. 

I have north node in 8th house but in Taurus. Definitely not an easy life at all. I’ve had to metaphorically die and be reborn so many times, shedding old snakeskin and habits just for the present lifetime. I have Saturn and Moon in Scorpio in the south node and I have an ancestral legacy of burdens that might not be resolved in this lifetime but I’ve been able to remove a significant amount of blockages and hardships maybe a good 60%.
