I think it's more a matter of house placement than sign. I have a Taurus NN and Scorpio SN but the SN is sixth house and NN is 12th house, that house placement is know for a hard life, past and present. http://northnodeastrology.blogspot.com/search/label/North%20Node%20in%20Taurus

Yup, the NN house is more for the individual.
Oh yes.......
and, yes - the Stubbornness thing......
I would agree wholeheartedly with you on both points, anonymous......
And the shedding the skins, living many different lives in one lifetime has been true for me.....
Metamorphoses....re-births....coming back from the dead...Not for the faint-hearted - been to many dark places and back.....

I like to think all of the node placements would have difficulties relevant to an individual's life.I have this placement on my Ascendant in Scorpio and notice more difficult times have occurred in my life during the nodal returns. I've had three nodal returns and each time I have had to make tough decisions related to my autonomy and my responsibilities. The natal house of the nodes is quite revealing, I think.
My generation of Scorpio North Node people also have Neptune in Scorpio so their experiences would be different than those people born with Pluto and the North Node in Scorpio.
I just realized I had my hardest challenge, related to my NN placement, in 2013 during my first nodal return.
Back then I didn’t know about the NN, I was torn between to paths and eventually chose the more logical: health and career over growth and real relationships. I wonder if I’ll have to wait another 19 years to get a chance like that again (mine is in the 7th house).
Regarding the post’s question, I have heard at least one astrologer say that it’s the most difficult NN placement. I guess it’s because the nodes are about leaving your comfort zone, like mentioned above, but also (correct me if I’m wrong) no other pair of signs is as related to the comfort zone theme as the Taurus-Scorpio axis. So it’s double the struggle perhaps.
It's a perceived sense of difficulty, only because Scorpio NN requires one to leave their comfort zone and change...
Transformation is not easy especially when you've got a luxurious Taurus SN and say for example you come from wealth, and somewhere in the mid-20s, the family declares bankruptcy and now everyone's running in survival mode, which basically means your sudden laid-back approach is now challenged with a much-needed get-up-and-survive one...
Not really easy for a Taurean (or one with a Taurus NN).
