Hmm.....I also have Orcus in Cancer. And it is all but exactly conjunct my Vertex!
20Can27 Orcus
20Can28 Vertex
And they are in my 8H. So my unexpected/fateful encounter (vertex) will be death (8H) aligned with my spiritual creed (Orcus)?
I'm not sure what to think of this...my 8H is empty aside from my Vertex and PoF, and a few other minor objects obviously. But this placement seems "eerie" to me, or ......I don't know how to put it into words...
OR!
Maybe it's the talk of death that I've encountered a lot more than usual today. *shrugs*
I have Orcus at 14 degrees Leo, conjunct Pholus and Chiron but too far away from my AC (which is conjunct Regulus, yay me!)
So basically I have an asteroid stellium in Leo hmph...just in time to square my Vesta-Mercury in Scorpio and my MC...and oppose Saturn..damn!
But now I have a grand trine in fire with Orcus-Pholus/Eris/NN.Yay me, again!
Hmmm...I just realised I got Spica right on my Sun and Sirius conjunct Mars, I'm gonna have to look that up.
(sorry, thinking out loud)
I don't know anything about Orcus but wanted to point out that Barbara Clow has written that planets and asteriods' assigned meaning is related to the time/context in which they are found.
Can you point the way to where she, or anyone, talks about that? I'm interested in hearing about that theory. I have her Chiron book, which I'll check.
Mine is in Leo.
Mine is in Leo as well. 3 deg and retrograde. I have some interesting aspects to it so hope I can read more about it soon, can't really afford Jeremy Neal's book right yet, though.
Jeremy's written quite a bit about it on his blog

We've had a couple of threads here too, eg this one I began a year ago:
