That's someone's SR 12th house using Placidus. I honestly have no idea how people take this seriously.
Here's another view:
I'm sorry but I just can't see this. Not. At. All.
I also note, the younger generations are going with Whole Houses.
I point this out, so you can see what I've seen. These favored house systems change, periodically. We're in a period of change now.
When I started learning, Placidus was everyone's favoured system. It never really gelled with me - intercepted houses and such, it just seemed so... unnecessary. Since coming to this site over the years, I slowly changed over to Equal house and it makes so much more sense to me, like a light going on in a darkened room. It's all I use now.
I have also noticed Whole House becoming more prevalent.
I use whole house system but I have early degree Ascendant so there is no experiential difference between whole and equal for me. I start feeling the shift as soon as planet hits 28-29ish degree.
Rulers of the houses are more important to me than the actual houses. That is why Placidus, Koch and the like did not sit well with me from the very beginning. How do you reconcile that one planet rules 4 or 6 houses in the chart and other none because the sign is intercepted?
The Placidus Midheaven/IC describes the Meridian. The Midheaven - as indicated by the highest point in the sky the Sun reaches on the day of birth - points towards the Polaris star and the North pole of the Earth. The IC indicated on a Placidus chart points towards the south pole and the supermassive Black hole at the center of our galaxy.
There is valuable information contained in the Placidus Midheaven and IC about how our individual souls are embodied onto the Earth and into both Dark and Light.
When I generate a chart on my solarfire software for a very northern latitude - it defaults to equal houses - but it still indicates the location of the Placidus Midheaven. Smart software.
Placidius works for parts of Europe and the good old USA. That's probably why people use it so much. USA centered. Anyway, both Placidius and Whole Signs work for me when looking at charts.
