This has reminded me ... seven years ago the woman I was seeing dumped me under this transit. It was the time when transiting saturn in Virgo and uranus in Pisces were opposing each other in the sky so she was also going through her uranus half-return.
Her life had suddenly got very stressful at work due to many colleagues on holiday, plus some other bits and pieces. We'd only been seeing each other six months and things were getting closer then as this transit hit she broke up with me for no good reason. I'm very uranian in my outlook of life so I was giving her lots of freedom and the chance to establish her independence. I was fully supportive of the idea of her taking a sabbatical from work and going travelling for 3-months. But she just blew things up because she couldn't handle the pressure. She had a history of running from relationships.
Robert Hand says that this transit brings a crisis and the native can make a break for freedom but in the process the cost may be very high. At the time, I thought she'd made the wrong decision but given that she never spoke to me again, I guess it really was the right decision for her.

Hi Pepe,I'm not an astrologer but I like playing with the symbolic frame that astrology offers and using it in my own unique way. It's an art of sorts.
I listened to someone talking about Saturn not so long ago. What they basically said is that transit Saturn shows where one continually asks questions, while transit Jupiter points to area where answers to that questions are most easily found. It doesn't mean it has all the answers, it only shows where answers flow in most natural manner. I like that interpretation immensely.
I interpret conjunctions, for myself only, as awareness of/recognizing something from within.
So Saturn-Uranus conjunction would be a symbolic representation of questions I possibly ask myself, questions about personal freedom, independence but also interconnectedness that I may have not asked before in that format. Saturn will trine Uranus in Aries next year, that could indicate questions fully formed. Maybe.
Once again I would not ask myself questions about personal freedom and independence if I wasn't is some kind of bondage, spine surgery as you wrote in your post. I know detachment is not a word kindly looked at, but detachment is a good thing if I am overwhelmed by the details to the point where it obscures the overall situation. To proverbially not see the wood for the trees. Which leads me to another point. What questions would I ask myself if I wasn't so involved in all the details? Questions are very important. I would say more so than the answers. How could I possibly want to know something if don't even know that I don't know it.
I'd look at Jupiter in Libra this year. And maybe even your natal Jupiter. It's where you may find the answers in a most natural manner. Not my way or someone else's way, but your natural way. I perceive everything from my unique vantage point, and share how I see it. That can helpful or it can be useless crap. Only you can really know for yourself.
I was recently reading an interesting article on overcoming this Saturn conjunction to my natal Uranus calling for detachment and giving it to God so that part makes sense. I'm Virgo so it's hard for me to not hang up on details. It's just terrifying at teams to see yourself possibly losing your physical capabilities; its makes it hard to give it to the universe. You prove a great point. I guess I'm trying to figure out to unpredictability. Thank you for your insight

You don't say what house it's in.
I have a strong Aqua-Uranus trine across my 10th-6th houses.
At work I'd always been the one who asked difficult questions of the corporation, always felt like the workers were being exploited and having their individuality stamped out with everybody having to follow policies that are set to the lowest common denominator.
When saturn transited uranus I found that I finally stopped asking the difficult questions and realised you either buy into whatever the corporate line is, or you get out.
I also stopped coming up with inventive ideas or things that would make the job better. Management would be sat there saying how much they wanted innovation but actually when I suggested classicly aquarian/uranian ideas on how they could innovate they didn't really want to know and all I was doing was making myself look like a maverick who couldn't be trusted. So I stopped suggesting stuff.
All in all, my working life improved by stopping being the outsider.
Beyond that I got serious with my running. I'd often done 10Ks and half marathons but I'd enter a race, train and then do other things. Saturn got me structured in my running routines by making it a daily activity where before my uranian approach was not to commit to the long term.

I'm so sorry; 9th house. Thank you for your insight it seems like that's where this transit is heading for me: complete surrender. Thanks again!

Hi Pepe! I'm sorry times are so difficult for you right now. ((((hugs))))I'm also 31 and going through this same transit, now.
The phrase I liked that is linked to this transit is: fundamental changes.
That is absolutely what is happening in my life right now! I am (some times more successfully than other times) trying to come to terms with and build structure in the midst of chaos.
You've inspired me to do a bit of searching. Here are some quotes I found...
"With a transit of Saturn conjunct Uranus, the person feels that his freedom is restricted in some way, and has an extremely strong urge to break out and end this unwanted obligation."
"One of the most important and interesting characteristics of Saturn, is that Saturn is interlinked with personal development and the place where the person has to build his self confidence, overcome fear, and concur challenge and difficulties. With Saturn transits, it is sometimes very easy to see after the event what the purpose of it in our development was. The transit of Saturn conjunct Uranus is very strong; it elevates the basic needs of Uranus for freedom, individualism and change, and brings them to the surface. Suddenly, some situations we normally overlook or accept with silence can’t be ignored anymore."
"For all of you that have this transit, remember that its purpose is to connect you to who you really are."
"When transiting Saturn is conjunct your natal Uranus: You become acutely aware of the restrictions of your life and will try to break away from them. You may feel like every rule that has worked for you reliably until now needs to change. This leads to great inner tension that tends to be released at regular intervals. It is common to feel completely stuck in an intolerable situation. Then suddenly you make the break. This is a very important period to make fundamental changes in your life. You may surprise yourself with some of the creative solutions you come up to your life's problems."

"Saturn Transits in Aspect to Natal Uranus: Uranus rules our urge for independence and innovation. Saturn makes for restriction. It's not that obstacles to your hopes and wishes suddenly appear. Most likely, they've been there all along. When a stressful aspect (conjunction, square, or opposition) from transiting Saturn hits your natal Uranus, you start to notice them. You now have two apparent choices: give in and be depressed, or rebel and risk disaster. Naturally, no matter which planet you choose to follow, the other one will“get you”. But there is a solution. You have to mix the traits of both planets at the same time. Make far-reaching changes in your life now (Uranus). But do it in a well planned, orderly, and structured way (Saturn). Don't expect the changes to be either quick or easy. You have be prepared to stay there for the long haul. One caution. Don't try to do too much. Under Saturn transits, we sometimes try to work 25 hours a day, and eight days a week. A little rest every now and then won't kill you."
I hope it helps. Good luck!!

So let's try and piece this together ... you natally have uranus in the 9th.
- You say that you're facing spinal surgery that's going to limit your mobility. 9H is about travel ... so saturn is going to stop you from travelling? Are you a flighty type of person who's always chopping and changing - whether that's relationships, jobs etc, etc.
- The spine is a Leo thing - which is the opposite of Aquarius / Uranus. Uranus doesn't like to express itself personally but will express on behalf of the collective. Is Saturn perhaps trying to force you to express who you are or your needs perhaps?
- The spine is also our backbone. It holds us together, our skeleton/bones support the rest of our bodies. 9H is also philosophy and religion. People often use religion as their support system. What are your thoughts about religion or philosophy? Are you possibly being challenged to find God by having this surgery at such a young age?

This is very interesting and a lot of questions to reflect on and a hospital bed forces you to do so sometimes.
ill have to ponder. Thank you for these reflections!
