I have read several times that some aspects and placements almost changes the nature of a sign.
For exemple : I am a Cancer rising, my moon is conjunct my ascendant but also forming an exact square with pluto in the 4th. I can recognize some "scorpio" traits in me but my cancer nature is still there, although clearly affected by pluto.
Can we say that it is like having a Scorpio rising ?
My gemini sun is in the 12th, with an exact square to saturn in the 3rd. Again I can feel like a Gemini to some extent but at the same time I do not recognize in typical Geminis. There is some pisces and capricorn in my sun energy due to these aspects and placements to some extent. But I do not feel as I am a real Gemini nor a Cap nor a Pisces.
I find it quite hard to still refer to the signs energy as their nature is very distorted in my chart.
More.deeply, I find it difficult to perceive clearly my own identity and express my own energy as if my sun and moon signs could not express that easily their energy and identity.
Do you have any view on this ?

I would consider you an intense Cancer, and not at all a Scorpio rising.
You cannot change the nature of a "sign". What you are describing is the nature of the "planet" within the sign. The energy of the planet is affected by the sign, house, and aspects made to it by other planets.
Personal power is in hunger and desire. It is a joining of the Ascendent and the IC.
Pluto in the 4 th squaring a Cancer Moon and Ascendent is very Plutonian.
