@elsa We are being led into chaos for sure, and I think that's what it always is, perhaps more so right now because with a pendulum swing, it shakes things up too quickly to keep up.
God may be allowing us to do "what is right in our own eyes" as the Bible says. We'll see how that works out for us.
The immigrant issue is difficult. "They" have been bringing people in since the 1960s who are very different from the majority. It's been another successful project - you want to humanize people who are different, but at the same time some people are too different to live with well, because they are wholly incompatible, and they don't want to assimilate. It leaves one with inner conflict.
People were recently talking about how kids don't trick or treat anymore. That a lot of what made America American is fading away. Of course we can't say if it's good or bad, but it's noticeable, and it's confusing. It's for sure been done on purpose.
They say America is "just an idea" and other vague things like that. That anyone can be an American. But then what is an American? No one can quite define it anymore, and that works just fine for the "elites."
I go back and forth a lot on this issue:
1. Everyone's been victimized by it - Americans whose families built the nation, and then the people who are brought in with promises of a better life, who are naturally viewed as other.
Some of them want to assimilate, and they should be welcomed, but they often are lumped in with the ones who fly their mother countries' flags and live off of tax money, who have no desire to be American, whatever that is. (They seem to know, while Americans don't.)
Then there are people who actively hate America, but have moved here and vocalize their hatred of us, promise to outbreed us and say "this is our country now" while flying a foreign flag. It has happened in Canada too. (Again, it shows that the newcomers know what an American is, and that they view themselves as hostile to Americans.)
2. In the meantime, I remember learning about other countries and their cultures, and each had something unique in their traditions. I learned that a nation is a people, that it has cohesion and character. I fear a lot of nations have had that stolen from them already, replaced with global influences that degrade music and art and film and so on, as well as changing demographics. It's like the gender stuff - saying men and women are the same and are interchangeable. We're not, and neither are the races and cultures. Each is unique and beautiful in its own way.
These two things combined leave us with what? Absolute chaos. Division. Confusion. Who are we? Our roots are being lost. As the older generation dies, what will we be left with? We honestly have no idea and I think that's the whole point. Then add in AI and I could keep going but this is already too long.
The only thing I can do, as I get myself overwhelmed and fearful, is to try to remember who I am. I remember who raised me and who came before. I pass on what I've been taught, which is no small thing. And I pray. And I create. We must never stop creating. If we bring beauty into the world, somehow that may save us. That and faith. An abundance of faith.
But I don't know, what does everyone else think?
