"The $750.00 that our administration has offered the victims of hurricane Helene is a LOAN. They have one year to pay it back. A loan??? Are you kidding me? The level of wickedness that our government has stooped to is unbelievable."

Surely people care about this... or no?

@elsa It’s bs on multiple levels. I really need to understand how this amount is determined (why $750 and not a different amount) and is this loan a protocol?

People are pissed. I was at a fair and overheard people just in disbelief about the funds here, there, and not where immediately needed. And then elsewhere I see excuses or explanations of why and I’m in disbelief.

Remember other disasters? I remember Katrina and I remember hearing about people trapped in nursing homes, hospitals, all of that. It got focused attention, as it should have. Top stories are NOT Helene. Now I know I’m way up in New England but yeah, I remember Katrina and Sandy and so many.

Something stinks. We are learning alot about stuff. Again.

@allie120 our military should be on the ground, dealing with this.

The temps will drop next week. These people are homeless, in the mountains.

My husband has redirected donations he make to NC.

Back to the military, my husband was dispatched to clean up Jim Jones bodies.. when he was in the Air Force.

A friend told me, they have a special hate for Southerners and this is true.

@elsa omg…Jim Jones. I have no words. I remember that at the time. But cleaning up. Those were real people. My heart breaks. And now this.

Yes, the military should be there. But they’re not because they’re elsewhere or they are not given orders. There are no good excuses for this.

I have also heard the same thing your friend said, from other sources. But that aside, actions or rather, nonactions say it all.

@allie120 tn national guard was sent to the middle east.

On Jim Jones, I've written about it several times. Bloated bodies. He had to break bones to get them into bags...stiff.

@elsa Yes the troops are in the Middle East.

And after I responded, I thought, I think I remember Elsa talking about that…🤔. 😞

Myth: FEMA grant money is a loan that I will need to pay back. Fact: FEMA disaster assistance are grants which do not need to be repaid. Myth: FEMA asks for upfront payment to help fill out an application or perform an inspection. Fact: FEMA staff and inspectors never charge money for service.

@soup maybe, but many, many, many are saying otherwise.

And further,  $750 is a joke. No home, no car, no clothes,  no food...dead family

I tried my best to look into this. I think it may be a loan against your insurance. You pay it back from your settlement?

Really, no way to discern the truth....my opinion.

@elsa $750 may be a joke but this is something that is determined by congress. You have to examine who voted for this. Their voting records are available to anyone who wants to look them up. I like to watch how they VOTE and then base who I am voting for on their behavior. So, I watch them. Closely. Because things like this matter. The $750 dollars is to help on the spot. It's not everything they get. I have a girlfriend in Florida that lost her home, and she could go on for days about how she was helped.

A natural disaster is always a tragedy. And always something that takes time to fix. It has happened with every hurricane. And Florida is getting ready for another and then another. Both it's been determined will pack a punch.

I remember being flustered when that nasty one hit Florida (about 3 years ago) and I was discussing my disdain for how it was being handled and I was told I need to understand that they are probably doing all they can do, and it takes time. This didn't sit well with me. All I saw was human suffering and an incompetent govt. not doing what I thought they should be doing.

North Carolina is suffering. But so are TN, KY, GA (my state is suffering in a huge way... devastation here!) Florida North and South Carolina AND Virginia where my sister lives. I have family and friends in every single state hit. One lost her whole farm and all the animals... barely getting out alive with her kids.

The facts about FEMA are not maybe. That is how it works. And they go door to door but imagine the Terraine. Whole towns disappeared.

The Marines, the National Guard and the Army core of engineers are on the ground and have been. They are trying.

The bottom line. Mars is in Cancer, WATER... MOVING WATER.... and there is more to come. I think this will be something to watch globally. Pluto is back in Cap, and this is some serious energy. Mid to late month at opposition time we may see all hell break loose. Violence. Extreme weather. The downfall of many. Maybe a leader or two will or could very well die. We are here.... at showtime.

This is the last HOORAH!

I am doing as you taught me. To look at both sides. And I am also applying astrology. Mars is at 17 Cancer. There isn't a million dollars on planet earth that could get me to be hateful, or disrespectful.... you taught me to NEVER take the bait... so while the world is falling apart, I am doing some breath work and remembering I have a Cancer rising. Mars has me back up on my feet and in fine form. I see and hear the people screaming. I see information of all kinds too.

I am feeling better and doing better than I have in months, possibly years. So, I want to help them. Anyone here can donate money. There are plenty of places that are taking donations if anyone here wants to help. I'm glad to add donation links so the people here who want to help, can.

I say this, respectfully.

@soup I think the response is... not even a response.  Our military should have been on the ground day one and in the past, they would have been.

I know this for sure, because my husband has been involved in a number of these efforts over the years. First hand, in the flesh, on our soil and foreign soil as well.

My husband is awake and confirms he was dispatched to clean up after a tornado in Texas. He was also sent to help after a hurricane in Florida.

I think the tipping point is how resources are sent to other countries when we have serious issues at home: regardless of what pot the money or resources come from and the sequence of events.

A wealthy person’s dependents suffer if his house’s roof is leaking, the food is moldy, but the person decides to max out credit cards and take a loan out on the house so they can give the neighbors swimming pools.

@allie120 my issue is our media is pure propaganda and every tragedy is used to divide people. Leaving people to suffer, starve to death and die doesn't sit well either.

Again, our military is sent in to help with humanitarian crisis all over the world, sometimes at very high cost.  Case in point, Somalia (Blackhawk Down). Another mission, my husband was on.

Something has changed.

@elsa Agree 1000%. I won’t say more because I don’t want to derail anything here.
