My son and his gf are both engineers. He's been promoted to management. She was also promoted, but I don't know her title.  Even with their salaries combined, they can't afford a house.  It's sick.

@elsa I Work in Engineering as an undegreed design. 2 years ago I informed my boss I was making the same amount as I made in 2008 before the crash. 14 years basically trying to get back to where I was and maintaining it. This company is so great, they gave me above the normal yearly raise plus they reassessed my position and I got a wage adjustment between those 2 annual raises. Then I got a bonus that was above normal for a special program where the company was trying to reach a certain goal.

with all that and aggressively working to reduce any debt we have before retirement, for the first time in 15 years I’ve felt I can pay all my monthly bills and be able to have enough stuck away for emergencies without having to Face access any of our retirement funds.

BUT nothing about this is business as usual. My company had a come to Jesus moment when they recognized the discrepancies between pay, economic conditions and quality talent.

Now, I just worked late trying to get a major project to Planning that was handed to me over a month behind schedule. What I had to do was minor, but I’m exhausted because it wasn’t easy. At least I have a great boss who recognizes the effort it takes. I hear a glass of wine calling my name…..

have a great night and I pray that we all make it through the latest economic crisis. I’ve been through enough to know there is always a way through. It might not be fun. But at least it will be interesting.

@teresa-s I'm glad they addressed your situation. Happy for you!

On the other,  my husband told me today, 25% of people in the US can no longer afford three meals a day.  Kills me. I know what that's like.

I got an email that informed me that there was change in my next year job schedule which would have doubled my work. I lost sleep over it last night, but when I went in to the meeting today for the details I found out I was awfulizing the situation and its a little worse not overwhelmingly so. So yay!

Flexing

This bird is back for the third day. He poses likes this, for minutes at a time. Hangs around for 30 minutes, strutting and flexin'!

Might be one of these drying out its wings after a dip if you're near a body of water...

I follow one of the 1993 Mega Capricorns on twitter.  I get such a kick out of this guy.  He's funny, and he holds to his convictions. He has natural authority, for example, I take everything he says to be factual. I just don't think he'd be writing it, if he weren't pretty dammed sure.

No clue why his birthday in his profile, but he sure is encouraging, meaning he does not fit the stereotype they tend to throw on his generation.

This guy is currently trying to get Elon Musk to let him crowdsource a live stream on Twitter, for a special event.

"..mycelial network of information, all branching off from one another. isn't that the whole point of the internet?"

If he's allowed to do it, I'll know he's on the job, if you know what I mean.
