What was your dream job, when you were a child? Did you wind up doing anything similar?
I dreamed Big and wanted to be a star ⭐️ 😄.
I sang in a band for a couple of years and then when I met my soulmate I gave it up, got too practical, and got a real job.
I’ve always enjoyed performing whether it be in front of the camera or on stage.
Over the years I have given stage and video presentations in my practical career/s which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I am currently planning to do more of this work because nothing makes me feel more alive. I am naturally a bit shy but love the challenge and personal reward I feel when I achieve along these lines.
So to answer the question, although I’m in a different field (psychology), I still get to tap into my childhood dream through presentations.
Fashion Designer in Paris -- alas, no, but I did design and sew my own clothes, until they dropped the dress code in 10th grade. After that I wore jeans every day.
Private Eye or Secret Agent à la Honey West or Emma Peel -- no, but I did interview to work for a local private investigator. He pulled up in a white Mercedes two-seater convertible -- tall, tan, very handsome. He escorted me into the office anteroom, tossed his camel blazer and holster onto the leather sofa by the mirrored bar, settled me down with an expresso by his huge desk, and began the interview. It went swimmingly until he asked me if I was a good swimmer. "Why?" "My last girl quit after the boat we were on in the Caribbean blew up!" "I can't swim a stroke, but thanks for the coffee."
Astronaut! My adult job is more earthbound
Doctor and I was a puppy nurse for a while.
