"Women wear heels to signal their preferred male height."

Lol so, I'm about 5'9 (174cm) and have a plethora of crazy shoes, from colorful sneakers, to some classy 3" ruby slippers, to platform boots and stillettos that make me well over 6'2(188cm)

So he knows I'm signalling I'll take anyone but him?

In all seriousness, it only seems to check out because most high heels  (2-6" usually) close the gap between average male and average female height in the Western world. The average man is 4-6" taller than the average woman.

@rusalka I think it checks out, because I like short men / don't care.  Married one man 6'6" and my husband is 5'9"?

I wear flat shoes (before back problems), to accommodate short men, in part.  Comfort is also big, but if I am going to put on towering heels, I will know that short men are not likely to approach me.

I like all men so I have lived my life, "accessible". I also never try to be prettiest or whatever. I like PEOPLE and I realized in my 20's being approachable is normal for me and serves me.

I posted this because it's an uncommon observation /share. I don't think he cares if you or anyone, think he is an angry short man.   That alone, makes him interesting!

@elsa It's not that I even know or care that he's an "angry, short man," it's like @TBB said. It's annoying that he's lumping a huge chunk of the human race together like this, for what? Is he bitter that he doesn't get laid? Is he a playboy and want to show off? Why? Does he need to feel like he has insider knowledge about these mysterious women creatures? Has anyone told the poor thing that not all women are looking for men? 😆

FWIW, just you and me going back and forth is kind of proving him wrong, because the shortest guy I've ever been with was 5'7, and the tallest was 6'4. We have similar data points but different shoe experiences.

@rusalka  he's Russian and has a different mentality,  but he speaks his mind, freely, and routinely has very interesting insights.

He may we talking about Russian culture here. He usually specifies whem speaking about Americans.

I read him because he distinguishes himself in a number of ways. He is definitely arrogant but he's got some goods to back that up.

I wouldn't say I like him, but that doesn't matter. I learn from him, often enough.

What can I say? I'm a jupitaran! I stick with him because he's truly unique and some of what he says is keen and rock solid.

My 1h Uranus is quite annoyed with this know it all lumping us all together! lol

I have super narrow heels. I wear whatever I won't accidentally be stepping out of all night.

I always liked a kitten heel. High heels were sometimes fun but so uncomfortable.

I married a 5'9" man, never cared about height unless the guy was shorter than me, and then I wouldn't date him. Superficial maybe, but just not my thing. I rarely if ever wear heels now, I don't care to tower over my husband, even if that towering would be to equal his height.

Tall guys are definitely attractive, but as opposed to the "angry short guy," tall guys think they're entitled sometimes. I'll go with an angry short guy over that.

@dolce I haven’t heard “kitten heal” in a long time; it’s rather cute 😻. I remember having this preference too. The sensible but still classy choice.

They do? Well, as usual, I'm on a different wavelength. It's been 10 years or more since I wore heels. I want to be comfortable, so flats or sneakers it is.

@lislioness yep, I value comfort now too. I only wear orthopaedic friendly shoes, which fortunately, are made stylishly these days.
