What house systems have you used?  What house system are you using at the moment?

Do you have planets that change houses in different house systems?  Does that affect what you think of them?

I've been playing with different house systems for a while and just recently I stopped using it altogether and took a different approach.

Here's my logic behind that.

I take the chart as a whole. In that sense every change is the complete change, transit of Uranus in Aries does not affect Aries area exclusively, it is not isolated "event", it has a ripple effect on the whole, it affects every single sign to a various degree in my chart. The effects of changes triggered in Aries are quickly reflected in the same element (trines, Leo and Sadge) and slower in other elements, esp. squares. It is as if the change initiated by Uranus in Fire requires some translation into the language the other element speaks to take full effect. Still translation into Air language (sextiles) is fairly easy and quicker (languages that are not so different from each other) and translation into the language of Water is more tricky and takes much more time (for instance translation from English to Chinese, completely different symbols, nuances, cultural references, etc). Therefore, the digestion and incorporation of changes triggered in Fire takes some time, usually quite a lot of it, in Earth and Water. Yet still the change is reflected everywhere.

Like for instance, change in home environment, traditionally 4th House, leaves its mark on career, relationships, self-image, etc even if subconsciously. One cannot separate one from the other. An argument with my partner in the morning is not without an effect on my attitude towards strangers on the street or my work project. I colors everything.

For this very reason, I stopped using houses altogether, I only pay attention to basic archetypes of a sign or a planet and also to conjunctions/squares/oppositions to my natal planets. It feels more natural and organic to me. Besides all those house systems are so personal and arbitrary, I guess everyone could come up with their own unique house system that fits them only. It introduces too many tailor-made definitions and leaves less room to intuitive interpretation. It becomes less open to my own input and more like "self-fulfilling prophecy" that conforms to patterns expressed by others.

I got all fouled up in it because I wanted the world to have meaning as if it were words… As if I had a meaning, as if I were a mere word, as if I were something that could be looked up in a dictionary. I am a meaning and I give it a meaning.

Like others here, I started with Placidus then switched to Equal after spending sometime here at EE. I had never heard of Whole until now. I just tried it out and a significant change was that Neptune in Capricorn was bumped up into the sixth - which makes sense.  Very intriguing and worth more  exploration!
