I'm one of those very lucky people who gets almost literally high on music. As a toddler I had a tiny portable 45 rpm record player and access to the eclectic collections of my parents and much older siblings - all music fanatics. I would spend hours playing vinyl singles and singing tunelessly along (alas, I can't sing to save my life). My husband and I both seem to have inherited the ability to hear music perfectly in our heads, so when we're not playing tracks from our vast collection at home, we each have our own internal jukebox, no coins required. If I'm down, I have tracks which will lift my mood, if I'm tired, music to invigorate, if I want to go into trance, need some healing or just want to cook a big pot of gumbo, there's a tune for that too. Metal, classical, world music, ancient chant, jazz, blues, folk, rock - as long as it has passion, that the artist sounds like the really mean it - my spirit will follow. I don't play music 24/7 - sometimes I just like the sound of absolute silence, but I can't imagine life without music.
As Moon put so beautifully:
'In my case music was a painkiller whole my life, from very early age. It is a friend that never betrayed me when i needed him the most. It has always been there for me'.
I had forgotten about asteroid Apollo #1862
Apollo is the God of Music, the arts and symbolic of the ability to create something from nothing.
Strong Pisces/Neptune for "feeling" the music/musicality - Ravel, Debussy. Virgo for timing, dexterity, technique and flat out ability or appreciation of such things. Leo for theatrics/drama - Puccini.
both my parents are classical musicians and have Virgo moons that trine and conjunct Neptune. I have known a ton of Virgo musicians.
I think Aquarius or Uranus inclines towards contemporary or unorthodox interests, i.e. electronic music.
Aries/Sag - cock rock, punk, Bartok.
Cancer - Air supply
I'm a Pisces moon square Neptune in the twelfth and I love the French Impresssionists and chamber music. That whole music at night thing, I totally get.
My mars in Aquarius loves some electronic music tho too.
Clearly huge generalizations are flying around in this post, but...
Pisces/Aquarius, Jupiter/Saturn Influenced people: I highly recommend Goa Trance. It's a subgenre of trance music originated from India that's engineered for the psychedelic traveler of the world. If you're into electronic music you need to know your trance, Cosmosis - Cosmology and Astral Projection - Trust in Trance are a couple good ones.
Aquarian electronic steps into the realm of unconformity and for that Autechre is known for. Their beep-boop music is bound to confuse your friends and make them concerned for your well-being!!!
For the warrior martians, thrash metal is a must. One of the best trash albums is Megadeath's Rust in Peace (1990) which has a Uranian edge to it. The singer Dave Mustaine was raised in a strict religious community he rebelled from and in this album expresses his doubts and fears of religion and war. In his chart is a Saturn/Jupiter conjunction, and also a Mars/Mercury conjunction.
As an Aquarian I only listen to crazy stuff.
Music can ? affect mood, for better and worse
Me too... Can lift me so high
