Pluto In Sagittarius Killed The News / Truth / Publishing

I found Pluto's transit to be particularly ugly - all the way through, but especially so while it was up close and personal, opposing my Moon. Which lasted a long, long time, due to I-don't-know-how-many retrogrades.

During that time, there were people who took the time and effort to make sure I knew, that they hated me - me, personally - because they were unhappy with the social/historical climate. Can't find romance? Poppy's the standard-bearer of why not. Kids these days are (fill in the blank): Poppy, no better than any mother, no wait, the worst, because she's not organizing the world, as mothers are supposed to do!! ::lol::

Well, that was fun. Reminiscing, I mean. And look - not killed by stupid people's tendency for stupid! All of which, I mean for a preamble. I firmly believe - know - that journalism isn't dead. There are, as ever, real journalists, doing what real journalists do. Tell what they find, that is. What's changed, is how they manage to earn a living, *and* do what they are gifted in doing.

I expect this to shake out while Pluto is in Capricorn. Capricorn representing real truth, and real everything, in its higher representations. I believe so, actually. Shocking, but, supported by knowing that people tend to be how they are, despite any coersion. Similar to how water seeps through any cracks, I know that there are always people who want to broadcast what they hear and see, and I feel very sure that some of them will find ways to do so. In fact, already are doing so.

The fact of formerly reliable - trusted - employers of journalists, having turned into propaganda machines... that's different. And that's why I feel strongly that they're (news magnates) already getting exposed, as garbage. Smile Corruption - right? - if it's not good for compost (learning from it) it's not good for anything.

Nowadays I don't know what, or who, to believe. I'm starting to think that ALL news we hear and read is propaganda or clickbait.

It's now a news free-for-all.  Like they realized they don't have to tell the truth; "news" can be anything you're willing to make up.  "Sources say...."   They don't have to name their sources, so fuck it, let's tell LIES.  There will eventually have to be some kind of regulation... they're going to have to name their sources so there can be true fact checking.  But that's a long way off, because of the need to actually protect some sources, like whistleblowers.

All bets are off on honesty nowadays.  I like to play online games where they are supposedly "free" but if  you want to advance, you buy coins or whatever.  But there's no regulation, it's not gambling, because they virtual "coins" are worthless; you can't cash them out or anything.  So the online games have gotten absolutely horrid.  I don't mind paying some money for my entertainment and to support a company, but I see people spending thousands of dollars, addicted to it like it's gambling (it's called the "gambilization of games", to entice those who have a pathological gambling addiction but manage to stay out of casinos) and the gaming companies are taking full advantage.  There have been class action lawsuits, but they are dismissed on the premise that the coins are worthless.

I just think that in many ways, we have really cooked our goose when it comes to what the internet has become.  Don't even get me started on pornography.... our male children don't stand a chance.

Very, very depressing.  Lack of ethics is everywhere.  Thank God my kids have grown; I wouldn't want to be a parent of younguns in this day and age.  There's just too many diversions.  Used to be you only had to be afraid they'd run with the wrong crowd, now you have to be afraid they read the wrong stuff on the internet, which is WAY easier than finding the wrong crowd in your little town.  Such a plethora of bad choices.... and so many role models for "fuck it, why have morals, no one else does...."

I think it will be a long while before the news industry can recover. Besides the loss of credibility (and because of it), their product is devalued.  This is right at the same time they are wanting you to pay to read or to disable an ad-blocker to read. I hit one of those pages and conclude, whatever they've written is going to be bullshit anyway. I click back and forget about it.

You only do this so long before you don't click at all. For example, I would not click on anything "huffpo", under andy circumstance. Your brand is shit, basically. And when the special interests quit paying these outlets...which will happen, they'll disappear from the landscape.

There was a time when Sears was king. Then came Walmart.  Realize it or not, these outlets are not supported by people paying for them. This last election proves how weak they are. Donald Trump was able to win using Twitter, for free. They will lose customers because of this...on both sides. Paying customers, who want their agenda advanced, as well as people on the consumer side who've caught on to the bias in reporting.

I used to love the news. I quit using Google news about 8 years ago (and said so on this blog) due to their bias.  Saturn was in Virgo and I was going on and on about discerning and guarding your mind. I tend to take my own advice. Smile

darn keyboard...

Elsa, I was struck by your comment about Google bias. Is this what you noticed? Minute 55:32 in The Social Dilemma on Netflix. It's free on YouTube now, I think. (Minute placement might be different on YouTube)

"You're going to see different results depending on where you live." I would add that you see different results based upon what sites you visit, what comments you make, and what your political leanings are, etc.

@starcrest  Thanks. I have pretty good awareness of this due to having this website.

The algorithms are incredibly sophisticated and constantly changing.

They try all kinds of things. Like years ago, if you shopped amazon on a mac, you paid more than a person on a pc.

Very deceitful. Matter of fact, deceiving people has become the norm for many in this era. I am hoping to see this change (in my lifetime) and believe it will.

I think the truth is dead. It died with Pluto in Sagittarius.

What is "truth" anyway? If Pluto killed something it's the conviction that I know the "truth". If there is any. I doubt there is such thing as universal truth.
