Gulf not Atlantic!

What a beast.  Anyone in the path of this thing or know someone who is?  What's happening?

It's expected to make landfall on Wednesday.

@belladonna oh man. I feel that will be a mistake...which is not something I usually say or think. I defer to the person's judgment.  But this looks beyond bad. Personally, I feel we're under attack.

I'm north of Orlando, on high ground, no rivers.  My primary fear is a long power outage as my arthritic senior dog needs his a/c.  I've been procrastinating about finding a self-contained solar powered a/c window unit, too technically challenged for a gas generator.

Weather modification can create these weapons, and could probably also disarm them, if only...

Thank you!  If the temps cool down as is being forecasted, it should be safe.

Yeah my former neighbor is new-ish to FL; they said they have fuel & whatever.. but not sure where they think they'd be able to go with fuel when everything is likely to be underwater. They are right beneath Tampa, so possible direct hit. Very concerning and disturbing.

Mayor says if you stay you'll die. They are lucky to have this much of a warning. My mother's friends took it after staying during Helene; they had a relative drown so they are out of there now.

One guy on the news said he's leaving after staying last time - he'd rather drive out of there than canoe. I'm not so sure anyone would be even lucky enough to canoe with this surge. Especially with all the leftover debris. Hope I'm wrong.

@belladonna It's not that easy for people to leave, with four kids and dogs... and hotels in the area, booked solid.  What a nightmare.

This makes me think of Katrina.  The people displaced by that hurricane, wound up all over the place. One of them wound up my massage therapist. Boy did she have tales to tell,

@elsa Even if they start out, is there enough fuel at the pumps, what if the roads are at a standstill? And yes, what if people are infirm, on oxygen, alone, or are really broke, no transportation?

It’s monumental to get so many people to safety.

@elsa yes they wound up in my hometown also back then...

Well, authorities are offering resources to come and get people, even if to shelters would likely be safer than staying home.
