My cousin's daughter had a premature baby boy this afternoon. He was taken by C-section. 2 pounds, 2 ounces, at 26 weeks, 3 days gestational age. She developed some severe problems that prompted the delivery. Pre-eclampsia and the very rare HELLP syndrome. The latest word is the mother is ok. Her mother, a registered nurse, stayed with her through yesterday, last night, and today.
I'm not sure the baby will make it. He's too young. I drew up his chart. - Looks like I made it too small.
Cousin just sent 4 photos on the baby boy. The first 3 were before he was swaddled in a blanket. He is so small. So very small. His head is smaller that the adult hands around him. My heart hurts for him.
Saying a prayer for them.
I've been watching the baby boy on NicView camera. He's had some periods of high activity followed by rest. I watched him do a hard hick with his leg. I thought, yes, they do kick!! He looks so good.
His mom was moved to regular post-partum room late Friday. She was released this afternoon. Considering she was in a life threatening situation, this is very good news.
It's up to God! And if he's still hanging in, that's a very good sign!
