Okay this one may generate some resistance - but we just finished Goliath with Billy Bob Thornton.

Definitely some gruesome stuff in there, so not for the timid, but Billy Bob is just great and a really great supporting cast. 3 seasons...the last is the best, at least in my book.

If it doesn't grab you, just move along to the next thing...

Watched The Alpinist the other night. It is a documentary, but it is a knockout.

Oh, and the other night we watched an older movie "Begin Again". No gore. It's good!

Goliath is a couple of years old, as is Begin Again.

unbelieable

Well, I am finishing, "Unbelievable", which is not the sort of thing I watch. But it was highly rated and I liked the comments...

I'm near the end and glad I made it past the first couple episodes. They weren't bad. Just wasn't sure the show was going anywhere new or interesting.

It is interesting, marred only by the gratuitous, men and cops suck. I mean it feature a sucking male cop, as part of the story, but the rest was add-on.

I don't think a writer would put that stuff in there as it damages the story - takes you off track.   But the story very good and relatable to me.

At the end of one of the episodes, the girl makes a statement about not being believed; basically a person won't believe you, if the truth you tell them is "inconvenient".  The whole series was worth seeing, just to hear that line, alone.  I definitely think it's true.

Anyway, it's a very story and most of the actors are also very good.

I’m watching The Killing Fields.

I’m watched that in the theater when it came out. The scene where the reporter was in the fields has stuck with me forever. I won’t say more. It’s a mouthful. 🤐

@allie120 I also saw it when it came out. Jeez... I'd forgotten all about that movie.

@elsa The real news of it was when I was a minor, background noise when I was growing up because I was a child. But when you watch it as a young adult, and again, all the pieces, the ghosts, the wafts of news or footage that you were aware of but didn’t understand….it’s…it’s the rabbit hole and the engagement and the yes it all makes sense, again.

😢

@allie120 yeah, recalling seeing it, I realize it changed me. Just seeing what other people go through.

@allie120 I don’t really know that I believe in past lives but seeing that movie as a kid (my parents let us watch anything apparently) triggered memories and not good ones.

There’s another film directed by Angelina Jolie called First They Killed My Father that is poignant too and based in that time and place, that is worth seeing if you haven’t. I think it’s better in some ways than The Killing Fields.
