Statistics have shown for well over a century that one does better with children and married overall. There has been a lot of information which has convinced many that children are a burden. I once believed this as well but no more.

I am a man. This did not occur until I had a child and had to place my own well-being behind my son. This helped me grow to fully become an adult and have a longitudinal outlook, to be more concerned about what is going on in my home &  community. Being in the military helped, but I still carried arrogance and selfishness within me. I only placed my fellow soldiers before me and non one else. Now it's all about family and friends.

Very few humans can become fully mature without having a family. To me, there is nothing hire to aim for that (with a few added things, but I digress).

I agree. I think it is shame a that modern society has de-coupled home and family from the achievement motivation in men. It has juvenilized both men and women. Traditional societies still consider the founding of a family on a par with career success but they lose it when assimilating in Western culture.
