@BP: just wanted to say I'm thankful for all the stories you wrote about your mother. Have no clue how to explain why, but believe me, I am. Heart

More excellent sources of reading and information on the effects of narcissistic parenting and it's effects. Also, from Wikipedia:

Hope some of this helps those on this board, not to be intrusive, just trying to interject some helpful resources...xoxoxo

@Serenity: Thank you very, very much! Her narcissism, along with peer pressure, led me to alcoholism and smoking, which I have both overcome and I am soon receiving therapy for Internet addiction from my longtime friend and mentor. Had I realized her f*^#ing tactics much earlier, I would have saved a lot of heartache. Heckity hell, my mum even threw me out of home for 3 weeks upon finding out about my alcoholism, and I was living on the streets working at a fast food for a slice of bread!

If you were raised by a narcissist, can you see what is 'missing' for your sibling(s), if you have them? Or for yourself if you are an only child?

Yes yes yes yes. LOL I'm 4th of 5. It's interesting to see the dynamic in how this effects each child within the family. I went completely the opposite way but then I was mostly ignored so it's not like I had a choice.

I emphatically highly recommend all Alice Miller books too. Also, cognitive behaviour therapy if you've been affected by narcissists.

Trust issues - definitely.

My siblings who became narcissists themselves had children who are also narcissists, except for one...there is one I have hope for but no idea how he's doing. I cut off most of my family. and now half are dead so that makes things a lot easier. lol

Hardest remnant of this for me is the trust issues, and reading people correctly to avoid letting a narcissist get close to me. I'm averaging 50/50 success with that but determined to hit 100% avoidance of them ASAP! 🙂

I do feel for these people. But I'm not one who can take this on or let them get close. It's just too much of a trigger AND they are wayyyyyy too much work.

The astrology I've noticed in family members charts - lots of fixed and/or fire, lots of self focus aspects or placements, lots of need for adoration. They have all planets covered so I can't single out one as being indicative of this. Just glaring the difference I noticed between my chart and everyone else's (1 vs. 10 others). I'm definitely odd one out.

@Cansoscorp, yes I totally get the picture you are painting, narcissists are not known for their compassion and ability to empathize...((((((hugs for you)))))
