I think personally you always had it in you, it just is more easy going for you both because you know eachother for a long time. Time itself will help ease things and give you more comfort and trust.

how's your Saturn too, like his Saturn to your moon and venus, and vice versa.

He has an Aquarius Moon like I do but it doesn't aspect my Mars at all. It does fall into my 4th house though.

His Sagittarius Mars actually sextiles my Aquarius Moon, as well as my Aquarius Venus.

He has Saturn in Cancer where mine is in Capricorn and they are opposite. Neither makes aspects to our Moons and his doesn't make an aspect to my Venus. My Saturn is part of a Capricorn stellium that includes Uranus, Sun, and Neptune. His Capricorn Venus tightly conjuncts my Uranus and Sun and I happen to have Sun conjunct Saturn on my chart so I suppose his Venus could conjunct my Saturn. The orb is 9 degrees but I don't think it's strong or valid at that point.

The composite chart, however, has Saturn trine Moon so that might be strong.

I don't think he likes me anymore than as a friend. He banters with all of his friends like that so it's not exclusive to just me. Someone once assumed we were dating and made a comment about it and my friend made the comment that is not how he wants the story to go nor how he ever wants it to go. That to me speaks that he doesn't like me more than as a friend. It doesn't suck or anything, it is what it is.

I think that your Saturn struggles (3rd house communication) are lightening up now that you are at your Saturn return.

That's a good observation. I have issues communicating with others what I think of them, in a romantic sense that is, and I also struggle with expressing myself verbally in general.

I should check in at the end of the year with my communication issues to see if they've lightened up since Saturn will be retrograding back into Capricorn in July and back in Aquarius again in December.

Something else I found regarding my friend and myself, if you include the vertex in your astrology.

My vertex is tightly conjunct his IC and South Node. His vertex also trines my Saturn.
