I understand the relief in it. Comes from when my Grandfather passed, he was 87-years-old and senile after several strokes. My Grandmother and Dad took care of him  for the last 2 years of his life, and I lived in the same house,  but after the third stroke, he was hospitalized, and went soon after.  It doesn't prevent any of us from missing the man he used to be.
