I find Moon/Saturn can show strong emotional support between people, on the positive.

I also like to look at the individuals chart, to check out if they are suited to long term partnering. Strong Saturn here, is quite desirable. saturn

I agree, Saturn gets too much bad press. I rather like it, and consider it a necessity. Alternatively some earth in a chart may compensate. I know a couple of people who find it hard to commit and they both have no earth.

Venus-Pluto aspects, nodes-planets and Saturn connections too of course.

I've had a number of relationships that lasted over a year, but three in particular that were very long. Aspects to my Venus/Saturn conjunction or Moon/Pluto conjunction featured heavily. Surprisingly, all three have something squaring my Uranus.

1. With short pauses here and there, almost 7 years before the final break, which was very difficult for both of us:

  • Her Venus trined my Venus/Saturn
  • Her Pluto squared my Venus/Saturn
  • Her Sun opposed my Moon/Pluto
  • Her Mars squared my Moon/Pluto
  • Her T-square of Moon/Jupiter/Saturn was completed by my Uranus, which in my own chart is the focal point of a very tight 29th degree yod.

2. Three years together plus several more of hooking up semi-regularly:

  • Her Venus trined my Moon/Pluto
  • Her Mars exactly on my Asc, trine my Venus/Saturn
  • Her Saturn exactly on my Desc
  • Her Mercury oppose my Moon/Pluto
  • Her Pluto square my Venus/Saturn
  • Her Jupiter square my Uranus
  • Her Neptune conjunct my MC, oppose my Mercury

3. My wife, seven really good years and two or three awful ones, now separated:

  • Her Sun square my Sun
  • Her Venus oppose my Venus/Saturn
  • Her Venus square my Jupiter
  • Her Venus and my Venus/Saturn all square her Nodes
  • Her NN conjunct my Jupiter
  • Her Saturn conjunct my MC, oppose my Mercury
  • Her Neptune square my Moon/Pluto
  • Her Asc square my Uranus
  • Her Mars opposite my Uranus
  • Her Mercury conjunct my Asc, trine my Venus/Saturn
  • Her Jupiter conjunct my Mars
  • Her Pluto trine my Asc and my Venus/Saturn

Saturn for the long haul.  You won't get out of this one, whether you want to or not.

You will wish you never saw their face again, but you can't run away.

It is not remotely romantic.  Sometimes it means wiping their bottom, literally, as they slip into dementia.

You need have no feelings about them at all other than this is duty, this is the right thing to do.    That is a strong Saturn contact.

For the love that will always be there, I say Moon-Sun by contact and placement.

For a fantasy love, the one that got away, Neptune.
