I was wondering about the astrology of people who sport tattoos and piercings. Does that have to do with your ASC or your Venus sign? I have my ASC in Scorpio and Venus in Aquarius and I have one tattoo and want more, four piercings and most likely will be getting two more this coming Friday.
I actually had some lady ask me last week why I didn't have more piercings because according to her, I looked like someone who should have a lot of them. To be fair, I have a captive bead nose ring and really short hair that is shaved on both sides and on the back of my head and faded purplish/indigo color on the top so I see why she'd think that. And my roommates apparently agree with her on the tattoos and piercings.
Ha we have the opposite Venus and ASC! I have Aquarius rising and Scorpio venus 
I have several small tattoos on my arm and one on my ribcage. I also have several piercings, and I’d like to get a new one soon.
I was thinking of strong Mars energy - penetration of the body, the desire to pierce. Tattooing is also done with a needle entering the skin. This would associate it with 1st h / Asc. Maybe the natal moon is also involved? If there are aspects to the Moon that might encourage transforming or manipulating the body? I think piercing the skin might offer symbolic relief for something going on inside.
My Moon and Venus (both in Aquarius) square my ASC. Pluto, which is my chart ruler, is in my 1st house. My Mars is in Sagittarius and is in the second house so it doesn't aspect my ASC.
I think strong Uranian or Plutonian energy in the chart can make a person be more prone to tattoos and piercings. I have both with those Aquarius placements and Scorpio ASC and Pluto in the 1st house.
I actually have one already - a purple star. But I have more I want to get:

Witch is for my favorite holiday and I guess spiritual leanings even though I don't consider myself a witch.

I love this topic. There is such a broad- a-z, book of reasons, transits, natal placements. Me- Saturn conjunct moon 12th house- Aquarius&Chiron conjunct Jupiter conjunct my AC, IN Pisces. Sadly, yeah, I’ve done self harm and I have scars. I love tattoos and considered covering some scars, but I used that energy towards home projects. Ppl who tattoo to honor loved ones in grief could have some 8th house energy. ? Great question.
Our ancestors have pierced, painted, used jewelry to shift their necks, ears, etc. Tattoos are sometimes a drunken mistake? (Also- possible transit)!
They can go hand in hand with pain, suffering, healings, and letting go. And growth, Maturity. Enlightenment.? I also have Venus conjunct Neptune in 8th house Scorpio.......So yeah- I’m pro- tattoo.
But, my Saturn Sun, Mercury keeps me from getting one.

I’m about to get a pretty big tattoo of a phoenix on my inner lower arm/wrist to cover up an old tattoo that reminds me of someone... we have matching ones and got them together. I want to sever the cord with this person forever. So this is symbolic of my inner transformation and ability to rise above pain and also just a fuck you statement. Lots of 8th house going on with me and also Venus/Pluto. ???
....It’s not really a fuck you statement, but it kind of is... I’m not showing it to them. It’s for myself. I am going to cut whatever damn cord is left, I am going to do this for myself and then I’m going to move forward with a greater appreciation for my life. Not sure if I’ll have to have the tattoo faded first though, it’s really dark and covers my whole wrist, so we’ll see.
A phoenix is one I want to get myself because I keep rising from the ashes a new person everytime a traumatic situation happens. Your phoenix tattoo sounds awesome.

@purplestargirl definitely- my PL conjuncts DC tightly 2 degrees. If I do get one. It will be a Phoenix. I don’t remember your chart but I remember we have one or two similars.
You're a Capricorn Sun as well if I remember right? I have a Scorpio ASC so the phoenix fits as it's also one of archetypes of that sign.
That's what I thought. We're both Cap Suns and Mercurys, with Mercury in Capricorn near the same degree if I remember right. Mine is at 25 degrees.
Thanks guys... yep, I’m cutting the cord on August 22nd during the Blue Moon. The moon will be at 29 degrees Aquarius exactly trine my natal Pluto at 29 Libra.
Then we can proceed with the tattoo.. so freeing. This tattoo is going to be colorful and bright with orange, yellow, red, purple and blue. So every time I look at it I will feel powerful and inspired. No more dead weight.

Eta: transit Pluto retrograde will be exactly square my natal Venus then as well. So perfect. I would do it now but it’s really best to harness the power of the full moon when doing something like this. A waning moon does not have enough energy.
Quick update: I got my piercings today. The first one kinda hurt but it mostly just stung. The second one wasn't so bad because I already got the first one and knew what to expect. My roommate held my hand during the entire process, which was nice of her. I might have cussed during the first piercing but I'm pleased with the way they turned out. I got a double helix piercing in my right ear.
