Transits of the Moon

Do you feel them? Do you track them? Do you prefer some lunar positions to others? Does the Moon rule your ascendant, or have some strong influence in your chart?

I have a backwards chart, some would say (Libra rising), and a strong lunar influence. I think moody tends to have a negative connotation, so on my better days I think of it as being intrinsically connected to nature, and natural daily cycles. I respond in the way of the tides, the plants, and the animals. My internal world shifts and changes, and if I don’t attach a story to it (though I often struggle not to) I can find a thread of consistency that exists apart from my external reality.

For me, it’s easier to find those threads when the Moon is transiting an air sign—houses 1, 5, and 9. I’m able to reconcile the emotional experiences I have when the moon transits the earth signs. You’d think the Moon in the earth signs would provide a sense of stability, but for me since they are in houses 4, 8, and 12, it is often a very shadowy, heavy experience, particularly when coupled with other transits to the natal chart, or pinging natal placements.

I generally know where the moon is.  Whether I do or I don't, I think I've been at this so long, I'm pretty aligned with collective mood.

I say this because I will have an idea and write something and then realize it fits a theme.

I like all the moons for their own purpose, but like Scorpio moon the best for the fertility of it and the permission to be a bit more edgy.

I like Capricorn moon the least. It's in my 12th house and I feel the collective pain and angst, but also individuals like Satori. I've know her a long time and see a lot of suffering she's gone through during these periods. I psychically grit my teeth and get through it.

Great idea for a thread.

@elsa I relate on the Cap moon. It transits my 4th, the seat of my tsquare that includes Saturn. Lonely lonely lonely, usually.

I do track the moon and feel them. I think my preference for where the moon is depends on the other surrounding transits, because that decides the type of mood that can be of benefit. So for instance, I do like it when the moon is in my moon sign Pisces because I feel a sense of relief and that I can just "trip out" and know that everyone else is "tripping" too. But sometimes that isn't always beneficial the days it falls due to something happening elsewhere. I find Moon in Cancer always a bit sensitive and need to keep an eye on that one. Maybe the Scorpio one needs a bit of watching, but again it can be beneficial depending on what's going on around it. Otherwise I think I can work all the moon signs to some advantage, forewarned is forearmed to make the best of it.

I make a fuss of new moons and full moons and eclipses, because I think they deserve and warrant it.

Today's dark of the moon to new moon is "jangly" I feel. I will do a meditation over the new moon and eclipse tonight.

@sophiab maybe I should be a little more cognizant of tracking the moon since I’m really moved by it daily. Forewarned is forearmed. I have some internal resistance to planning something like this, but maybe it’s more about trusting these cycles, and connecting to the energy in a more universal way.

I definitely feel the jangly-ness of today. Great word.

@buendia you don't have to do much, I keep my chart on astro. com in an open tab on my phone browser and just change the date when I want to check with the transits set to on.

The only one I seem to really notice is the Moon in Cancer. It’s in my seventh house which sounds ok, but I tend to feel depressed during that time. I’ve never been able to figure out why that is. It trines my natal Moon, so it should be fine.

@libra-noir makes a square to natal Saturn in Libra, your chart ruler? Saturn/Moon squares can be depression-ville, even when the planets are strongly placed (exalted Saturn, domicile Moon). Maybe even because of it, especially in the case of the t. moon.

Planets in the angular houses can be really “felt” oftentimes, as they usually correlate with some external impetus, or can at least appear to.

I am a Cancer rising, and I have yet to figure out how the moon affects me. I try to parse it, but it moves so darn quickly! I've tried taking notes through the signs, taking notes through the houses, looking at lunar returns... and I still haven't reached any conclusions about this or that.

I have generally been paying closer attention to new moons and full moons over the last couple of years, since I started meeting with a women's group on a monthly basis around the full moons. That's been a handy little time keeper tool for me... but as far as the moon moving through the signs, I'm still very unsure about how that plays out for me. I'll keep trying though.

New moon at the bottom of my chart today, square my Asc from the 4th house.

Just to catalogue, but woah. Feels very ominous that the sky is blue yet it looks like nighttime. I don’t know if ever been as tuned in to an eclipse as now.

@buendia I think the fact you're being drawn towards the moon and it's cycles is significant and it's part of something bigger, a way of connecting. It's cool you got to see the eclipse!
