What are your beliefs around this? How do you know when it is time to throw in the towel or keep going?

I would say maybe it comes down to ego/trying to control, but how do you tell the difference?

Sometimes when you give up on something and put it out of your mind, it boomerangs, comes to you when you least expect it.

But perseverance and persistence are vital qualities to accomplish anything in life.  Consider athletes, authors, scientists, farmers, inventors...  It's trite, but "Quitters don't win and winners don't quit."

So true- I believe this is the paradox of life.

Hard question to answer because of that paradox. But I’ve found with most things, acceptance is the answer. Acceptance that things may not work out the way I want. Acceptance of wherever I’m currently at in relation to where I want to be. Doesn’t mean giving up, but being at peace with whatever the outcome.

I say, step away from the corpse.

If something is dead, leave it.
If there is life left in it, keep plugging.

so true, I believe it's because of the frequency... sometimes wanting it too much = lack which attracts lack, so when you let go you can draw it to you

reminds me of when I was desperate to find a new place to live... I searched all over for a month straight, and had one day left and woke up so drained from it all that I told myself, F it, I give up. I left that day to spot a guy packing up his car literally two houses down...

and asked if they had any apartments and he said yeah mine actually, want to see? So, I said yes and that was the one...

haha
