I continue to consider the idea, progressed charts should be elevated. I’ve been in astrology all my life and can tell you, thirty years ago, a good percentage of astrologers used the progressed chart over the Natal. I recall mentioning this here or there, but not in the last twenty years.
I was getting good results with natal charts and transits so I didn’t look at this, in depth. Time passed and this trend faded. This is just a historical note, so this information can be carried forward.
I’m not ready to do this, myself. I get excellent results using the natal chart, but I know now, there’s something here. I’m mulling this… well, brainstorming may be a more accurate word. To be clear, these astrologers used transits… but to the Progressed rather than the Natal.
I’m thinking about clients who enjoy blood-pumping competition. They thrive at the top, waking up in the morning, ready to rage against, whoever for whatever. But it’s common a person busts their ass to get somewhere. Later in life, the come to hate their job. I might chock this up to disillusionment, with any number of things, but what if they have just simply, changed?
Same with drug users or drinkers who sober up. I don’t know this, I’m just trying to wonder about it, productively. We know a Uranus transit can liberate a person in an abusive relationship, but can their progressed planets do the same?
If you’re new to Progressed charts, here’s a good intro:
It’s all there… wanting to be single and then wanting to not be single. Now, think about the narratives out there. Some would say I was getting old (27) and now I want a man. Is it that? Or did my progressed Venus leave Virgo for Libra?
This is about really understanding your individual situation so you’re not knocked off your true course by propaganda aka orchestrated trends.
What do you think about favoring a progressed chart over the natal?
My progressed moon in Leo will soon conjunct my natal ascendant. I have been curious to see if I’ll notice anything!
Yes you will, my progressed venus is right on my leo ascendant now and I have been receiving many compliments and flirting from men.. it was long awaited as my pr venus was squaring natal Saturn for a few years and I had experienced the worst glow down ever..
Yes the older I am the more I look at my progressed chart and consider it more accurate. It’s not that I ‘like’ it, I much more like my natal..but hey, to be honest, my progressed is more who I am today.
I think it begins to make sense when a person is older and got that idea of ‘becoming who they want to be’ out of their mind and can have a honest look at who they actually are without freaking out. My sun progressed into Pisces two years ago and it currently opposing natal Pluto and about to go into a long trine with natal Neptune. Not my favourite as a natal Sag but it’s actually much closer to the reality of who I am now and feels more comfortable than I could have imagined.
So yes, I prefer looking at the progressed chart and transits to progressed planets…for a reality check. I have changed.
My progressed moon is currently in Pisces in my first house. Dont know how this has effected me but I do feel more introverted and my writing has really taken off – I’m writing about deep subjects based in my spiritual experience.
This idea makes so much sense to me. Nearly all my natal placements have progressed into an air grand trine, with one opposition, Gemini Saturn to Sag Neptune/Jupiter, and I do feel like a true airhead. People use that word to mean stupid, but I’m having a different experience.
I’m an information vacuum. Listening to podcasts, reading online and off, living in a self-contained, isolated, bubble of ideas and thoughts. You’d think I were a walking encyclopedia. Sometimes my head feels like it will explode. But then, just like air, it can all drift away, and then I feel empty, without nourishment. I can’t tell when I’m hungry, or full, both mentally and physically, and I’m having a hard time actually doing things in the real world. It’s invigorating, then exhausting.
No progressed planets in water, and only two progressed planets in Earth…Sun conjunct Pluto at 28-29 Virgo. It feels like the last dissolution of my earthly body and self before progressed Sun enters Libra.
Air grand trine – some kind of cosmic gift?! How can I best use it? It’s true what they say, it feels both very easy but somewhat stagnant.
I began life as a Leo, with Venus and Moon in water signs. I used to curl my hair, and wear makeup and nice clothes. I loved being around people. Now, I dress like a pauper and I’m nearly invisible. Sometimes it’s a relief, but I marvel at how much I’ve changed.
I’ve looked at my Progressed chart, trying to glean the shifts. A birthday approaches and my grandchildren have birthdays before and after mine.
It may be a good birthday present to order a Progressed and scry meaning at this point — like mirror mirror on the wall who do I see in there, now
This is SUPER interesting!
I think they totally explain how we change as we ‘mature’ … also how that then effects the relationships we’re in … ‘they aren’t who I met x years ago’ …they really aren’t!
