I am going through this now, or I should say, I have been going through this for several years.  But now I think she's gone, in that she simply doesn't remember me and/or she is unable to converse.

It seems this is a lot more prevalent than it used to be, but I can't say for sure.  Does anyone know?

Yes, my step mother had dementia. I do think it’s become more prevalent, I’ve started wondering if it has something to do with all the chemicals in our food and water. It seems like onset is showing up in younger people than in the past. Dementia used to be something you would see in 80 and 90 year olds. Now it is even showing up in 50-60 year olds.
