I didn't realize astro.com closed their forum. I was surprised. I didn't think about it much, until I started to try to find real people talking about my husband's stuff.
There's reddit and nothing more. Not only that, what can be found on reddit is very little, considering millions people have been contributing there for more than 20 years. Topic is common, but information, outside of the ai, google friendly, bulleted lists, that are cut and pastes, EVERYWHERE, are not.
I'm pretty sure I fathom what's going on but it doesn't seem to interest people. I am unable to fathom why it doesn't interest people. Perhaps it doesn't matter?
I'm just bringing this up again. I have used the internet for many years, as has everyone else. Is the internet destined to continue on it's downhill course?
Like you get on here to see what the "wizard of oz" says. That's it. Take it or leave it?
Perhaps search a subject and forum. Yes, info is hard to find.
I found this site with search terms heart failure forum.
Back on this topic, the private board that helped me so much some years ago, is still there. If not, I would have no way to get support.
Also on the heart failure subs on reddit, there are TONS of people in their 20's and even their teens getting this dx. How else can you learn something like that?
Real people just have to stay connected, less we find ourselves suffering alone, cut off from most information, simply because it's either gone or hidden from you.
I'm pretty sure I fathom what's going on but it doesn't seem to interest people. I am unable to fathom why it doesn't interest people. Perhaps it doesn't matter?
I think it just seems beyond our control? There have been various places on the internet where people used to converse and exchange, that just don't exist anymore. Like isn't that just the nature of the beast? Big tech makes it all possible, so they control the flow of information. What am I to do about it?
I'm sad to see forums die. I realize social media is probably what caused them to die, but I see FB dying too. I’m not using the newer platforms that are popular with younger generations, but for them they are part of their social life. Just like AIM and myspace were for me in the late 90s/early 2000s.
You've invested a lot in this forum to maintain your own standards for interacting and exchanging with all of us, and that's extremely cool. We all love you for it. Based on how much you've shared about what that involves, I'm not surprised how many other people just migrated to other platforms instead. It takes so much work to build it and keep it current!
It does seem pretty downhill to me. But kids these days probably see it differently.
Reddit for me is the forums I used to have years ago. Except for here, I don't post anything personal on forums. I can't recall the last time I did.
My kids have very little social media presence. The Saggie told me it's for her own protection. She said there are too many entitled creeps out there. Hey, I wouldn't want a social media presence either if I was young. All I have is a not often updated FB. I use Messenger to get a hold of my friends for a quick conversation. That's it. I don't want everything out there.
