I have written more than 100 posts about Neptune on the midheaven and this will be another. If you have Neptune conjunct your midheaven or Pisces ruling the 10th your public image is going to morph. This is inevitable. It is outside your control. If you want to zero in on what I’m talking about just think of a celebrity whose image is static. There are plenty of people like that…and there are plenty of people like me.

If you’ve been around here awhile, I am sure you have seen people come and go. You’ve seen people love me and then hate me or hate me and then love me and sometimes they go back and forth over and over.
I’ll never forget the gal who wrote a diatribe about how I constantly pissed her off because my Moon was in “X” opposing hers. She went on and on about how she forgave me for pissing her off because of this moon opposition thing between our charts. She granted me some favor because of this and the only problem was, I didn’t have my moon in “X”.
I probably should have just kept my mouth shut but instead I told her, “But I don’t have an X moon”. This was unforgivable. I was either in in trouble for not having the moon where she imagined or for saying so but it was a no win situation for me because if I had let her comment lie, I’d have misleading others.
If the same circumstance were to arise today, I would mislead others. I would pretend I did not see the comment. I would not confirm or deny the allegation and while I don’t crave this so much I’ve been beaten so badly for my honest nature, I’ve learned that sometimes it’s better to just STFU.
I was prompted me to write this because I was thinking about the book I wrote. Neptune on the midheaven obscures my me from the public but also hides my public image from me except for the rare times the veil lifts which is always shocking. Last week I posted some stuff about my daughter… I published her own words which really brings a person to life. This made her real to some of the newer readers around here. She was already real to old-timers but I imagine reading about her caused a shift in some, as far as how they see me.
Yesterday it hit me, I used to be known (8-10 years ago) by the stories I told, some of which went into my (unpublished) book. I don’t tell stories anymore (to speak of) and if people were to read that book today, I think they’d be stunned. They’d probably also be upset by it, they may even be mad in their confusion and I’ll tell you why. It’s because my public image has morphed and it would be a lot of work to try to merge the then with the now.
I know this for sure because I had to merge my memory of my husband with his persona post his career in Special Forces and it was not easy. I’ve also seen that people who knew him during those twenty years find it virtually impossible to grasp my existence, never mind our bond.
It’s like being a small boat on on the beach. I used to be tethered there and you could see me. You could see this outline of me and at some point the rope was cut and I have drifted A LONG WAY.
There is no way to judge this. Things are fleeting, I guess, unless you really try to hold on and even then you’ve got no guarantees.

Elsa how do you place midheaven? Cusp of 10th or it can vary? Confused about this.
The midheaven is the midheaven but if you have Neptune near the cusp of your 10th house in Equal houses (or in your 10th, though it’s not like being on an angle), you’re going to have this quality.
I can relate… With my Neptune on my AC, I think the energy is very similar.
You’re with people to learn and grow. Is all that pain and sorrow necessary for us to evolve? Sometimes it appears to be true. Bittersweet.
My Neptune is conjunct my Sun I can understand that you are who you are but others may see you as some one else or something else.

I’m constantly told by others they they can’t get a ‘handle’ on me or that I’m elusive.
I used to attribute it to Scorpio Sun but now wonder if others can’t see me through the mist.
I have transiting Neptune in Pisces in an exact conjunction with my Midheaven. I am an RN and a nurse Case Manager. It was very confusing for me in the past month to receive the award for Clinical Director of the year, The previous 3 years at work have been horrible and I feared I was going to lose my job.Now I am receiving all of this public recognition and my portrait is hanging when you walk in the hospital. I have also been helping families all over the surrounding communities almost like an Underground Railroad type situation where they seek me out for end of life care, and other types of help. Meanwhile it seems like my personal life has been affected in a negative way unrelated to my job but I have a very strong 4th House with Sun, Uranus, Moon all there in Libra as well as Mars, Mercury, and Pluto in Virgo (17, 20, and 28 degrees so not being opposed directly). In my home there has been alcohol and pill addictions and some deception going on, as well as secrets and heartbreak. What do you think? TIA.

I’m a mermaid, fairy, elusive muse…heard so many fairy tale adjectives about myself. Although, I’ve been a professional in my field(cap mars) for some time now but there is a part of me that is an eternal child. I look way younger than my age too….and I’m always moving so in many senses I can relate to this post. I’m here today, gone tomorrow. flying away into the horizon. People are always wonder what I’m up to but there isn’t a way to ‘generalize’ who I am or what I do. I like this aspect!

Elsa, when you used equal houses in our consult (which put Pisces on midheaven) you lifted the veil for me for a moment. Once lifted nothing is ever the same. No one sees all of me even me. I think they see the part of me they want to see. Often the part that validates or obscures part if them.

I have no control over how you see me..you will see what you need to see for whatever reason. But I will still be me. I may not see me, but I do know me and I may change in the eyes of the world and my character may appear to fluctuate but my soul will remain unchanged.

I have Neotune in MC. Strangest thing relating to career, I am an event planner and have a partnership in my business. So with that said, I am the more outspoken one (Leo Sun) and detailed (Virgo, Moon/Ven/Merc) yet, when we meet with our clients somehow it’s as if they never “acknowledge” and my partner get the emails, calls, and follow ups from our clients. It is the oddest thing. Even my partner has taken note of this. Also I can identify with how people “view” me. I have gotten all sorts of judgment. I just figure they’re projecting…or am I merely trying to keep them at bay?
Just got my Solar Return Report here;-) and I’ve got Neptune conjunct my MC (also Chiron) so I guess this is what I have to look forward to this year…..

Yes I do have Neptune at Midheaven in my Scorpio, and probably why people I know sometimes get confused of who I am. Then again I’m also Aquarius Rising.

uh oh I have Neptune on the midheaven for the next decade or so…. and I’m finding that daily interactions are less compelling, that I’m evading phone calls and the like, that people are just pushing harder and I’d rather just create work and let that be the communication instead. You can’t really do that however in real time…
I’ve got Neptune conjunct Asc. I think MC conjunct would probably be worse in terms of controlling public image. At least when people do get to know me they seem to get a better grip on who I am. But yeah, first meetings are always rough. It never ceases to amaze me what people read onto me — things that have absolutely nothing to do with who I am.
Love this article. Neptune sitting on my Scorpio MC. I recently retired after a 30-year career in the field of education. It was definitely the wrong field for me. The misunderstandings, and confusions and I would be put in the center of controversy never knowing how I got there (and I introspect). I was targeted by unscrupulous people who had no idea who I was. People who I didn’t even know! I am an unassuming, quiet person who would sit in the back of a conference or classroom totally quiet. I had people stalk me, go through my trash can, take pictures, write letters that were false and I was always rebuttaling their craziness. It was beyond bizarre.
I do find, though, that many people, including family and friends, immediately are drawn to me as a caregiver. They know I care. I have had my progressed ascendant in Pisces as well as Venus, Mars and Mercury there. I also had the sun there for a while. Things are shifting now into Aries which I am grateful and hopefully can begin to focus on ‘Me’.
I also sometimes just let people believe what they want about me. It’s just too much work trying to correct people all the time. Recently I had a half hour conversation with a work colleague at a party where it eventually became apparent to me that she had mistaken me for another person at work. I never bothered to correct her, just let her think I was this other person!

I’m not responsible for her delusions. This woman had known me for months. We sat together on a committee that met every other week. How she forgot who I was after that I’ll never know. Btw, the person she mistook me for thought it was hilarious that I did this!

It’s like with this placement you’re stoned or people look at you like you’re a perfect angel that needs protecting, it was strange to see astrology in the works!
I have this placement. Sometimes people get a wrong impression of me based on a misunderstanding and there doesn’t seem to be any way to correct this. The more I try to clarify the worse it gets…

Pisces MC here. I am shocked sometimes by people’s incorrect perceptions of me. I change my image frequently and can quite painlessly chop off all my hair on a whim, adopt a different style, or even manner. I also have gemini moon and mercury conj MC. I would never get a tattoo because I know I wouldn’t want it for very long. I often feel that the person I was even 2 years ago is someone I have little in common with. My outlook on life changes very rapidly. I know that this alienates some of the steadier, earthier people out there. I don’t have any earth in my chart and maybe this is why I always feel like I’m on my way to somewhere else.
Totally. Neptune on the MC conjunct the Sth Node,& Merc, and a Pisces AC. I’m a bit too susceptible to other people’s perceptions of me as well as everything else in the room. Stephanie, I’ve been there, pretty frequently. D, I get that too. Normally courteous people will just talk over me in a conversation again & again, as if I’m invisible. It’s bizarre and if I resist it, it’s worse. Yes, projections all the time. I’m not who I was, but then, I’m not always sure who I was….
Jupiter/Neptune opposite the Midheaven – not sure if that counts! I’m comfortable with unpredictable and complex people – it’s fun to see different sides of people coming out. (Maybe it’s my Moon/Uranus/ASC.) I know a lot of people aren’t and that sort of thing freaks them out.
Like Sam, my next solar return features Neptune conjunct the MC. Hope my job search leads me to something more spiritually meaningful, rather than just confusing!
I have had Neptune transiting my 10th house forever, besides which I have natal Neptune trining the Midheaven and Ascendent, and Gemini (the shape-shifter) rising.
I can, like, totally relate.
Downside of this is that there often is no public recognition for accomplishments. Upside is you can do a whole lot for the public good as a behind-the-scenes invisible influence.
Pluto in the 4th also influences this. When I accepted that people are going to project onto me what they need or want to see, I stopped worrying so much about my so-called public image and about what others may say. You often talk about that lesson, Elsa.
Elsa have you personally seen people who serve the public in some way deriving benefit for this Neptune placement??
One should get into glamor, movie business or work in the field of oil/gas/water related activities so that it works well..
My mother had Neptune on her MC. She won a trip to New York via a Glamour Magazine contest (she grew up in Central California partly on her Grandmother’s Fruit Ranch-and later moved to San Francisco to live in a Boarding House for Young Women, where while dating met my father, who was from Switzerland and at the time in the Air Force based at Hamilton). She wanted to become a clothing designer (she was very fashionable!) but didn’t have the confidence so instead, after moving to Los Angeles with my dad, put him through Art School. She met L.A. glitterati while having Spaghetti dinners on the floor with jug wine and martinis). They then moved to San Francisco and later Switzerland where she became very depressed. I had to keep her emotionally afloat as a young pre-teen, while my dad, traveled while working as an Ad Man for a very prestigious Ad agency). But we also traveled all over Europe, so she saw what the World was like outside her small country perspective. My mother was a million miles away from the country girl she was and she adjusted her persona accordingly. I often see her picture in my photos as a young teen and think of where she landed and marvel at it all.

Neptune is not conjunct my MC but it resides in the 10th and I have a Pisces rising. I honestly dont know how I appear to people anymore.
Aside from neptune’ changing your image or the way you’re percieved, I thought also that Neptune conjuncting the midheaven meant work in psychic/spiritual or metaphysical fields, such as astrology, being a medium, tarot reader etc. Am I wrong?

I have a very spiritual outlook and almost mission and calling in life. I used to love praying for people at my school and spending time in the word. Of course then my reputation was other people`s projections about me. I think definitely the midheaven is more then career aspirations. TO me its a life goal, a mission and purpose. however career wise I have had a lot of confusion first I tried to join the air force, marines and now navy. But Definitely The navy is my choice. But my relationship with authorities and people in charge is confusing and foggy. It seems like he almost forgets me ( the recruiter)
he is a butt-kisser, he`s gay, he`s a christian, he`s spiritual or to others I was just unknown ( my repution)
I have a 12th house sun also.
I seem to be a bit late here….maybe my Neptune transit now to my Piscean MC. Lots of uncertainty and ‘confusion’, very unlike me with a natal Sun conjunct Saturn. Very earthy, Sun Asc & 4planets. Hate the uncertainty but wise enough to know I should trust and have faith that whatever is meant to be, will be. It is supported by Saturn sext natal Saturn/Mercury and eventually Sun at 24deg. Meditation helps.
And yes, people always mistake me for something I am not. A model, cool, aloof, distant, strict ens, sometimes yes, mostly I’m warm, genuine, intuitive. 🙂

I have a very tight T-square between 12th house Neptune & Moon conjunct MC & Mercury in 3rd.
I also have Sun, Mercury & Venus in Pisces.
From kindergarten onwards i’ve been the ‘other’ to just about anyone i come in contact with. It seems to be only Neptune types that can see how i actually am.
A few years ago I was targeted for my assets & a group of people [who ended up with my assets!] spread really nasty lies about me in the National papers. So i’ve gone from being well known/respected to having my reputation unfairly trashed & losing large amounts of assets. Even a judge bought into the false version of me that was presented, and the case was decided not on evidence, but on the judges subjective assessment of my character.
What i couldn’t understand at the time was why people bought into the false version of me that was portrayed. But with time i’ve come to understand that i do represent something well outside of the norm of how our culture currently operates, so perhaps most people really can’t see me. I’m too far outside of their known spectrum & don’t fit into obvious boxes. It scares the hell out of me that i’m constantly having to battle peoples false perceptions
Can you say something about transiting Neptune on the Pisces MC when the MC is in the 9th house and not the 10th please? Sun is in Scorpio at 23 deg and the Asc is 17 deg of Cancer.

Ugh I hate Neptune! Unfortunately its my strongest planet though good thing I also have a strong Saturn (2nd) and Mercury (3rd) otherwise I would be doomed. I have Moon conjunct Neptune with a wide 8 degree orb (great thing) and both also conjunct MC with my Neptune conjuncting it with less than 1 degree. Morever, I have Pisces rising and also Pisces Mercury. I always wanted to be an Architect but because of financial circumstances, I had to forego it & took up Business Management instead and after 5 years of working in a corporate job, I decided to quit to study Graphic Design and then work again. After 5 years again, I studied Architectural Technology while working at the same time. As for public image goes, I’m still me but others notice otherwise. Couple it up to the fact that my Pisces rising is in Scorpio Decan.

Most of the people who commented seem to have at least attained some form of education and gotten a job (even if they’re not necessarily happy with it). I’m a Pisces with my Sun in the 12th house as well as my Saturn in Pisces in the 12th (conjunction). My Midheaven is in Capricorn but in my Midheaven I have Neptune conjunct Uranus. I have struggled my entire life with not knowing what I want to do therefore it leading to disinterest, lack of motivation and depression. I also always seem to have issues at work with management because they think I have potential but I’m simply lazy or disinterested (to them). I was in college in hopes of becoming a nurse but school gave me anxiety and ultimately made me miserable. I was never good at school. Just enough to get by. Any recommendations or career advice would be deeply appreciated. What I know for sure is that if I found something that I truly loved to do I wouldn’t mind working my little heart out day and night but I haven’t and I’m stagnant. It’s depressing really.

Elsa. I relate. My solar arc mc is on my natal neptune dreams in Libra. Saturn SA square to it on my husbands Venus Capricorn.! Romantic eh, I don’t think. So My Neptune already sq his Venus. However, I know we are not right together but who is? Its certainly been hard for me banging my head on a brick wall for 21 years. Not a lot of romance which I wanted. Still he has dementia now, Neptune is going over my Mars in Pisces! He is however the kindest man but just get fed up being a dogsbody instead of being me. At least who I thought I could be.
I hope you’ve gotten out, by now. He has dementia? If he’s still with us, he’s good for a nursing home. Free yourself!
Found this site through a Google search for Neptune conjunct MC in Lunar Opposition, but such info doesn’t exist, so this was helpful just to see the effects of any kind of Neptune conjunct MC. It’s true, what you wrote. I won’t even go into what happened at work, but I went from advocate to pariah in a matter of minutes… at least a half-hour, anyway. Neptune the deceiver, as well as the illusionist. Hit from all sides. Now I don’t know where I stand. Moon in 1st House Lunar Opp, in positive aspect to Neptune, so something good might come of it. Got back-stabbed from email sent trying to alert people.

Thank you! Today things were better… So, Neptune conj. MC aspect, in favorable aspect to 1st house Moon in Lunar Opposition means changeable, indeed! It will be a rocky 2 weeks until Lunar Return. I almost hate to peek at it.
Oh goodness! This Neptune on my MC has been a good and awful thing. I do get the psychic flashes and people have no clue who I am.
But there is another side to this as well. Anyone else out there with this aspect have problems out in the public just getting around places? I am talking how tough it is at times to just find the car where it is parked. Lol! My grandmother once said about me when I was younger that I would get lost in a store if I didn’t have someone to help me out. That was the truth.
Now, I am 50 and heading towards 51. So, I reckon this could turn into Dementia with me, since it runs in my family. I have been noticing things that I forget and have warned my husband about the Dementia in my family and that it looks like I could end up with it too.
I wonder how much Neptune has to do with Dementia/Alzheimer’s?
I have Neptune conjunct my Midheaven in Capricorn in the 9th house. I’ve been trying to teach myself astrology but the farther into it I get the more rare things I find in my chart, for instance I have 2 stelliums in Pisces & Sagittarius. Besides my north node the only planet I have in retrograde is Pluto, I have a Yod in my chart & of the 10 major planets 6 of them are in water signs & that does not includes my north node, Midheaven, or IC. Could you please possibly do an article on the rarity & implications of some of these astrological occurrences since they also significantly affect people & they are hard to find information on. I have another observatuon as I seem to be an ideal persona for others’ projections and I am bot visible to others as if I was covered with fog.
